Some people said in another topic that the crashes also vary on the dump.

I have a Kingston jap formatted FAT16, 64k, and it crashed in the first time I opened the menu. Then I started the DS again, started the game in R4, and it didn't crash anymore for the few minutes I have played after that, yet I'm afraid I will experience it again since it already happened once.

So for the people out there who have a Kingston jap formatted FAT16, 64k, and have been running it successfully with no crashes, I would like a tip of which dump are you using from the game. Thank you

I played PoR totally through on my 2GB Sansung microSD (its from Taiwan too oddly enough). It froze ONCE, and that was when I used the warp room multiple times, TRYING to get it to crash. Other than that, I never had any issues at all.

Guys I have a 2GB Sandisk

At the very beginning, you have an encounter with a cowboy-ghost-dude. When you talk to him, I have only managed to get past that part once, it always freezes.

Does anyone have any suggestions to get around this?

Works fine for me ... I don't think there really is a fix. It's a slow microSD that's the problem.
Best to get SanDisk or Kingston brand.

Okay, so I reformatted my 2GB Sandisk and did the 64k clusters thing, and then I defragmented it and my results after all that are: one freeze in a Warp and 3 random freezes in which I was jumping with Charlotte in all cases, 2 of them in the same room. Up till now I'm right after where you defeat the first boss.

In other words, it's playable for me.... up till now...

i had the occasional freezings during all the game. at one point i thought it wouldn't be playable but it is. just save often and when at a save and especialy teleport point stay for a sec stil then press the up button

but this part near the end with brauner for me is as far as it'll go. it freezes there every time no matter who is my curent character (or better was since they both appear for the chat with him and you don't actually play anyone at this point just watch the dialog)

anyway i enjoyed as long as it lasted

Just a heads up, even with the freezing its possible to play the game.
I have a Kingston Taiwan 2GB MicroSD formated with FAT 64k cluster and of course, I have some freezing in these situations:
Merchant
Teleport Rooms
Other random freezing.

I found a way around the merchant and the Teleport room freezing. In the teleport rooms I always wait 10 seconds before pressing up, and it always worked for me.
For the merchant it was kinda random, but I waited 20 seconds and it seemed to work as well most of the times.
I have no technical proof that it works, but it worked for me, give it a try.
Just finished the game, it was awesome, I loved it.

7pages with repeating the same question so i'll repeat the same answer: a fix is just a $10 1gb kingston japan microsd card.

But if you're too stubborn or cheap, don't travel with both characters at the same time

Where do you find the kingston japan micro sd card for 10 bucks? DealExtreme has it for the lowest price I could find at $15.50.

a fix is to format it w/ 64k clusters. Mine is a SanDisk, and its from Taiwan, it crashed w/ the ghost before, but i formatted w/ 64k clusters and it works perfectly.
