Hacking Noob here (WUP Installer)

Hi, new here and totally new to all this wii u hacking thingy, I've been experimenting and successfully made loadiine work with tloz botw, but as you may know it's laggy, I've read somewhere someone suggested to install it using wup installer instead, just want to know where to start with this, this wup installer is just another home brew that runs just like the other exploits with mii maker and a "launcher" website ? does this installs the game directly on the wii u memory ? it says is permanent, I can't uninstall it even with the wii u system ? (normal app deletion). So I just have to setup the wup installer home brew on my sd card and setup the game files on the "install" folder ? how do I know if I have an actual working game files ? I don't want to brick my beauty

and I don't want to try anything further until I understand more (I'm a computer engineer, I can understand) Thanks in advance

Once you install a game with WUPInstaller, it's like a legit Wii U game. You can delete it like any other Wii U game from the system settings, and update it like any other too. It won't brick unless you install something stupid onto your sysnand.

You can't brick your Wii U by using wupinstaller. It either installs or not. Or if you install wrong files, then the game won't run. But you CAN delete the installed game with the normal wii u system settings.

As long as you downloaded the files over Wii U USB helper, same region as your Wii U, then you should be fine. Use wupinstaller 1.3 y mod (that's what I use, I think)

Wup Installer Mod Y runs as a homebrew, yes.
You need to download BotW from Wii U USB Helper [Use 'Copy to SD' option]
Then after it's done copying to SD, insert your SDCard into Wii U and launch either Wup Installer Mod Y or Wup Installer GX2. [Press A to install to NAND, X to USB i believe?]
Wait till it installs.
Bam! It's installed and can be booted from sysmenu.

, that "Wii U USB Helper" is a windows program I guess ? I'm on a mac, I think I'll have to install some windows emulator

Hello guys, i've been downloading BOTW from Mega, will i need to download it from Wii U USB Helper yes or yes? won't work just copying to sd the usual way? I think Wii U USB Helper has an option to import the game and then copy it to SD. Gotta try it!! I just wonder if ill need something else, like title keys or something. About the update, if i download it from any ISO SITE, will i be able to install it through wupinstaller just like the game? without any signature patch, cfw and stuff that im wanting to avoid in the meantime? Thanks!!

You can simply paste all the files that you got from the mega download into a folder on the SD card called "install". As long as it is the same region as your wii u with the right key files etc, it should be fine.

It's much better to download from usbhelper though, much more convenient

WiiU USB Helper isn't the only downloader option, though it is the most feature complete and most used one.. There are other downloaders that can get the job done that are multi platform. There's Python and Java tools available if you search around. I would recommend you try my app here http://gbatemp.net/threads/a-simple-gui-for-funkiiu-funkii-ui.446853 it is a GUI for FunkiiU, which are both written in Python. Like I said there are others available too.

Annnnndddd it worked wonders!! this home brew launcher is awesome xD, just put the wup installer gx2 in the app folder on the sd card, ran it from the home brew launch menu, and installed easily the game and update downloaded with wii u usb helper, I had to borrow a PC 'cause I just couldn't make it run in mac with wine neither with crossover, the thing ran but when starting the downloads it failed, but in the Pc worked just fine.

No worries. WiiU USB Helper is by far the best downloader we have in terms of features but requires more effort to run on other OS's. All of the downloaders are great and will give you what you want in the end. Just solutions for non Windows users really.

Sorry for necrobumping, but does "installing a forwarder channel to sysnand" count as stupid ?

I have it working, installed on a usb device, but'd like to move it to the sysnand...

There are issues with installing the forwarder channel to sysnand. Just leave it on usb.
