If you upgrade your firmware now, you'll jump right up to 11.3, where you can't then get homebrew or CFW. Either use the guide from your currently firmware, or only update via a legit game cart that doesnt upgrade past 11.2.
yeah I know that, but SHOULD I upgrade using a game cartridge? does it have any positive effects in the long run? or negative?

Why would it make a difference? It doesn't matter how you upgrade, as long as you get there. Make sure you're on a firmware below 11.3 and you're fine.

I understand that you probably wouldn't have read the whole guide from start to finish (probably best not to anyway) but when you follow all the steps, what you'll be doing is installing all the hacks and stuff, and then upgrading to 11.3 in the end anyway. So no matter where all of us start the guide at, we all end up at the same firmware in the end.
11.3 won't let you install the stuff, but once you've installed everything from a lower firmware, you're OK to then upgrade up to 11.3 and beyond in the future.

Hi guys, how do I update a N3DS XL on which I installed a CFW? I've used Soundhax at 3ds.guide and my current firmware is 11.2.0-35E.
Thanks, and sorry if this question has already been answered.

SoundHax is not a CFW. So, you followed the entirety of the guide (and have Luma3DS and ARM9LoaderHax) or just until you got SoundHax?

is the H&S app console dependent or can I install H&S app from a N3dsXL running 11.2 and Luma to a n3ds-xl running 11.3 and Luma (both from same region).

Thanks

Yes, I followed the entirety of the guide and have Luma3DS and ARM9LoaderHax.

What do you mean how to update? If you followed the entirety of the guide as you claim, you'd have seen the part where, after restoring your NAND backup, you are told to update from the System Settings and that it is safe and you should stop asking about it.

hey guys, I previously asked if it was safe to update to 11.3 with A9LH+Luma3DS but this guide:
https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutorial-how-to-decrypt-extract-rebuild-3ds-cia-cxi-files.383055/
says U need:
  • A 2DS|O3DS|N3DS with a SysNand Firmware between 4.1 and 9.2 (4.1 and 11.2 with A9LH and/or SafeHax)
Is that true? does that mean if I update to 11.3 with A9LH+Luma3DS that I cant use this? or does it also work with 11.3?
That guide was probably written before 11.3 came.

I'm at part 3 section II of the arm9loaderhax installation and I can't seem to download otp.bin from the browser after the screen freezes, even after I tried the troubleshoot solutions. Can anyone help me out with this?

I saw this was a containment thread so I thought this would be a good place to ask.

Edit: image was too big, so I deleted it

Did you download the correct otherapp.bin?
Yep. And I: Restarted the ds, reinstalled homebrew, formatted my sd card TWICE, enabled file extensions, held L+R+DOWN+B, and extracted the starter.zip file on the root of my sd card. Everyone who tried to help me said that they've never seen a blue screen before.
