There shouldn't be any difference because Nintendo used pirated ROMs for the stock games!

Actually some of the roms originated from previously hacked roms Nintendo used to make 'romhacks' for systems like Gamecube (the gamecube's bonus Zelda cd had epilepsy modifications and spelling changes, among other differences).

That's not say they didn't take the ines format from their roms out of convenience which they did. But most of the roms have been hacked in some way.

But many of the 30 games are rom hacks, modified from previous Virtual console releases, already had some graphic tweaks or modifications either to add saving features, remove some flashing elements, or changing passcode elements, or simply fixing spelling, or changing fonts.

The Techmo Bowl for example removed the names of the players for trademark/copyright issues.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...siQZaa-xVGlSD73Rt26Nd2rk0/edit#gid=1328431117

As such most of those 30 roms are not the original versions of the games from the Nintendo system itself, but respresent newer 'revision #/version #' for those games, made by Nintendo later.

@pcm720 I've updated to the last hakchi and retroarch mod and now The mysterious Murasame Castle runs perfectly. Thanks for all the efforts.

Hi Gusi,

I've tried your command line, and I've tried it on two diff versions of the FDS rom. If possible do you think you could let me know your CRC32 or MD5 of the rom that works for you?

The ones I've tried:
CRC: 5DA99951 - MD5: e8558b356bb077213b255367c9c5be16
CRC: FC2E653E - MD5: 58377b2babdf06d8cf5557064f32ad92

I've tried this with with Hakchi 2.13e, PCM's .04.1 retroarch

Thanks Gusi!

Just a quick question to @pcm720 or @Cluster

With the snes9x2010 savestates being 5MB, does this mean that there may be a savestate editor in the works so that we will be able to delete those large save files?

Or is it best to just go through and manually delete all the snes save files that were made using snes9x2010 to eliminate that wasted space?

I doubt they used pirated ROMs. Most likely they just made their own dumps and attached iNES header (de-facto standard for additional ROM information required for emulation).

The easiset way to remove all savestates would be factory reset.

THX. and PSX is missing because its not an official Core. its a user core and works only for a few games.... without music.... and by a limitation of 300mb diskspace... it makes no sense. ;)
limited to 69 mb, hakchi2 can't support upload of games more than that amount tried with parappa the rapper deleting all videos and it just popped a message saying the game is too big, same with street fighter 3 for cps3

I've just installed the newest version 2.13e. I'm a bit confused though. I have all of my NES games and roms working. but the SNES roms are not working. I click on the game and it just goes back to the main screen of games. I see I need to download the retroarch but I'm unsure where to find anything and I haven't seen any steps. I have successfully installed the new version 2.13e. Any chance someone can help me figure out how to add SNES and Sega games? What am I missing here? thanks!

For Super Nintendo games, you have to install SNES9x2005.hmod core.

Check it out: https://github.com/pcm720/retroarch-clover/releases/tag/0.4.1-extra

thanks, I downloaded the link, but how to I load this into hakchi? I have it in my folder on desktop. Please help! once I have this, I'll be good to go.

Put the retroarch.hmod and cores into hakchi2/user_mods. Start hakchi2 and Klick on Install Mods and check retroarch mod and start the sync process.

  1. Go to "releases" tab and download the newest release.zip
  2. Unpack release.zip anywhere you want
  3. Copy retroarch.hmod and the cores you want (.hmod files from cores and extra_cores folders) to user_mods directory of Hakchi2.
  4. Install the modules (all modules can be installed in one go) via Hakchi2's Modules menu.
  5. Add the games as usual

These are perfect! Thank you for making them!

No, it's a known thing that they did not make their own dumps...in some cases, yes, virtual console versions were used, but they also used a bunch of other ones that you can find floating out there. There was a detailed Reddit post about it not that long ago.

All the games were previously on virtual console except for like 1-2 games... Some of them introduced on the Wii Virtual Console, and some Introduced on the Wii U virtual console, and a few only introduced to the 3ds console.

Most of the mainline virtual console ones were nintendo hacked versions (Kid Icarus has a different password system than the original version, and most main nintendo ones have flashy bits removed). The two zelda roms originate from both virtual console but previously were used on Gamecube Zelda disk.

Now, as to where the original roms were back when they first introduced them on Virtual console, and before they edited them... It is believed they might have been form internet collections from earlier years. But its only a theory.

Most of the virtual console roms have been modified in some way, either to add new 'release dates' to them, remove some copyright/trademarked material (anything that is a product spot for example, or famous individuals names nintendo or other companies no longer has a license to use)

Did you hit Select on the controller, while in the NES Classic GUI? This will sort the games by Title, Last Played, Release, etc... Maybe just need to hit select a couple of times to change back to alphabetical, But I could be wrong. :D

Thanks so much! Wow, the Select button. All my problems solved now :) Well, most. I get the bad music/noise on Super Mario World 2, guess that can be fixed by running the other SNES core.

You can't use the fact that checksum is the same for both ROMs (their ROM and the one from GoodNES set) as a proof that they use downloaded ROMs.
