As for your first question... I have about 6+ games along with a hack of those games. They all display separately just fine. You can name them differently in Hackchi, and I give them different covers.. You should be golden.. (I don't know the answer to your second question)

Ok cool thanks :D, hopefully pcm720 can shed some light on the second question as soon as he's not busy^_^

The xmb_assets.hmod is for a Retroarch theme I believe.

The same game won't install unless the checksum is different, right? So for example a hacked version will install just fine. But if I just copy/paste a file and rename it, that wouldn't work. Or would it?

I might be confusing the situation. When I say "navigation folder" I am referring to the various groups of games created by Hakchi. The program isn't systematically creating subfolders is what I meant to say, but rather just pointers all in the same main library/directory/folder.

I'm curious how your testing goes tonight as to whether you can create 30+ saves on the system...
Gotcha. Your comment about 'pointers' is incorrect though. Each time you load a folder from the main screen it loads whatever games/art/saves are in there, which is why we shouldn't go above 35. However, if there are 'subfolders' in there instead of games it will load those and then you must navigate to the games. I'm just suggesting cutting out any subfolders and seeing if we can group a hypothetical 40 SNES games into four 'main screen' folders of 10 games each, then try to create one save state for each game. This is what I would like to test. Unfortunately it won't be until tomorrow night at the earliest, so if someone wants to give it a go before then by all means please do and let us know.

I think that's how it works, i would believe the checksum would change as the .ips is applied would it not? Curiosity has got me now lol.

That's great! I noticed the fontfix.hmod was ready, and I plan to install it this weekend when I have time to mess with my Famicom again, but how did you get the FDS issue fixed? I thought we would have to wait until the next Hakchi version before this was fixed. Could you let me know what you did to get FDS games to work (especially the ones included with the Famicom)? Thanks!

@Erdrick77 I just redownloaded a fresh copy of hakchi 2.12 and unzipped it into my directory overwriting all the old files and it worked. :)

Just wario land and it works normally, not slowly (played just few minutes). Maybe bad ROMs or old core? Just try my one when it will be released! I just test if cores are running games, I am not able to full deeply test many games, there are users for that ;)

Did you use the core from buildbot libretro linux nightlys? or you build the lakka core?

The checksums do change with an IPS patch. Yes, as the content inside changes, even though the size doesn't.
An example of one game unpatched/patched:
unpatched CRC32: 9A523757
patched (w/ an english tranlastion patch): 5DA99951

I didn't look at the Hackchi src. But I would bet that it is based on some sort of checksum to detect duplicates, etc. (Or maybe duplicates are allowed.. If in a different folder/file name for file system sake)

I don't have an NES Classic yet. Just can't find them at either walmart or Best Buy (Has to be from one of those stores as my mom, who would be buying it, has cards for those stores.)

Anyway.....in the Hakchi2 folder settings, what do the individual options mean ? I would like to have the original 30 games on their own when you start the system and then have the added games in folders. Which option do I choose to do that ?

I just submitted to pcm720 the following working cores:
mednafen_vb
fmsx.hmod
mednafen_wswan
chip8

The following cores were also submitted and already included:
DOSBox
handy
mame2003
mednafen_NGP
pcsx_rearmed

I would like to officially thank @nesito for the hints about the pcsx_rearmed core !

About mame2003 you need mame 0.78 romset (you can also find mame2003 romset, it is the same); do not use older or newer romsets and always use parent sets, not clones or different game version (read here for more info about mame romsets organization). Tested games are:
Black Tiger
Bubble Bobble
Commando
Dynamite Dux
Final Fight
In The Hunt
Mercs
Ordyne
Puzzle Bobble (you need to add neogeo.zip bios to every NEOGEO game folder or create a module to add neogeo.zip in retroarch \etc\libretro\system without having to copy it to each NEOGEO game folder)
Tiger Heli
Toki

I also built the following core modules:
gme : this core lets you play famous music consoles file formats [ay|gbs|gym|hes|kss|nsf|nsfe|sap|spc|vgm|vgz] (tested with .vgz and it works)
imageviewer : this core open graphic files [jpg|jpeg|png|bmp|psd|tga|gif|hdr|pic|ppm|pgm] (tested with .png and it works)

The abouve 2 cores (gme and imageviewer) will probably not be inlcluded in the future releases because they are not emulation-related but here they are if you want to test them: https://www.sendspace.com/file/2odv8q

Non working cores (for me) are:
beetle_psx (substitute it with pcsx rearmed)
mednafen_psx (substitute it with pcsx rearmed)
mednafen_lynx (substitute it with "handy" core, it works great !)

Dunno if the following cores work, if someone can help with further testing it will be great:
scummvm (i tested it with monkey island but without success, need more tests - substitute it with DOSBox)
mednafen_pcfx (I cannot find a small .iso to test)

Yesterday I compiled this, and @nesito already has them for testing, even He showed just a teaser of them on his youtube videos.

mednafen_wswan
handy

Thanks for your effort, you work hard!
Try more please.

PS: What about desmume?

wait...MAME ? How much space do you think the NES Classic has ? I doubt you'll get more than maybe a single arcade game on this thing.....

I have Atari games installed..I use the a26 core. Works perfectly. I googled atari games with the a26 and came up with a bunch. I tried stella, and didnt seem to work with that core. Just make sure you point it in the main window ( Cluster's software for adding games) for the game to /bin/ a26.

And yes..you have to re-sync again.

It's possible to deactivate scanlines shader added in retroarch mod ?

Thx

Stella was in the pack from the very first release of my mod.
Actually, a26 is not the core's name. It's just the script that launches Stella ;)

Question for anyone who has Sega Master System games...

I am using the genesis_plus_gx core.. and all games work and have save states except for Phantasy Star... When I press the home button, I don't even get a save state to save... all other sms games save just fine..

Is this a problem with the core itself with this particular game or is it possible that the rom I have is corrupt? Or is there a different sms core that works better and supports save states for Phantasy Star?

Not with any Sega games, but I have this happening for Donkey Kong Country 2. No screenshot or suspend state is created to save into a slot... Curious. I thought it may be the rom, but haven't found another one yet to try.

EDIT: I have found a different copy of DK2 and it is now allowing save states.

Also, Mario RPG will save a spot, but when you load from that saved state, the game freezes and sound is weird and continues to play, but you can't see or do anything... Just some of my experiences. I have tried multiple roms for Super Mario RPG and both snes9x2010 and snes9x2005(does run and sound better though, while playing with this core.)

Gambia, The
now that the wii controller arrived I managed to do some tests:

- with clusterM's initial retroarch hmod release (which uses core mupen64plus) I got serious problems with mario kart 64 (ultra slow). I could solve this by uninstalling clusterM's hmod file and install retroarch and glupen64 core from pcm720's latest release. then syncing again all games. big thanx guys, works great!
- folders and covers, look and work good now (main folders for dfferent systems, multiple subfolders inside NES folder (containing not more than 30 games each)
- for snes I got no issues with standard core (snes9x2010), but I tried only different mario games (including yoshi's island, super mario kart), f-zero, castlevania IV (no sound poblems!), zelda, donkey kong country.

what I am missing ATM:
- enabling save states for N64 games (especially mario 64)
- little tweaking folder behaviour: when there are 4 items/folders only and I move to the very righ item everything jumps completely to the left although there no more items to display.

any ideas?

I am glad that people work on the FAQs. It is pretty hard for newcomers to see this through by that amount of posts in this thread. :ha:
