I'm sorry but does anyone know if Fire Emblem Fates is playable and in which build it runs best? Can someone point me in the right direction if this isn't the right place for me to be asking this? Thanks in advance.

Depends entirely on your PC Build. The unofficial citra build is certainly the best for playing. But just yesterday for example I saw how CPU reliant citra is. Normally I am running my i5 6400 at 4,4 ghz. Because of a bios update my OC was reset and the CPU ran at the default speed of 2,7 ghz. For fun I tested citra and how much it affects the fps: Normally, SMT IV Apocalypse for me is running very smooth at 5x native resolution in almost all areas of the game. (Also fire emblem fates at a little less resolution). Without the OC it stuttered like hell.

Mine's a i5 4690 @3.50 GHz (not OC), 8 GB RAM, GTX 970 (4 GB)

SMT IV Apocalypse is the other game I'm interested in playing, coincidentally.

So these nightly builds being released here are probably the most recommended? I've downloaded a few customs and bleeding, so I'm gonna do some tests later. Any tweaks that are certain to make FE: F and SMT IV run better?

Thanks.

Well you have to check for yourself how your specs are doing the job. I've got a 980, 8gb ram, for reference.
Like I said, at least in my case, the unofficial builds give me a huge difference in speed in all games. I am talking about the builds the user "tabnk" is posting (check page 237 for the latest).

There aren't really any tweaks for now, just one thing I realised: Always restart your computer before playing citra. At least for me, it makes a great speed difference.

PS: My GTX 1070 arrives tomorrow. So I can test the impact of GPU tomorrow as well.

1. You left out the only spec that matters: your CPU.
2. "Always restart your computer before playing citra. At least for me, it makes a great speed difference." <---- Like... really ? This is "valid" for every game since... forever ?
3. You can put two GTX 1080 in SLI friend, Citra will not gain a single fps from this. CPU clock alone is the only thing that matter for your performance now (multiple cores and CPU's don't matter too, Citra uses only one core).

Don't worry about upgrading your PC's, the project will have lot's of changes in the future, why worry about bruteforcing and wasting money now when this will not make any difference ?

I'm sorry? I just answered the mans question. If you look at my first post, I was talking about CPU at first and how the clock speed of 4,4 ghz was making a big difference in comparison to stock 2,7 ghz.
I ordered my 1070 not for citra. I was just making a short comment (therefore the post scriptum), that I get it today, so i can test if it changes anything. Good for you that you know that it doesn't, but I didn't.
And the restart tip certainly was very generic. But he sounded like he was about to try citra out for the first time, so I just wanted to make sure he does it right. In my opinion, the restart really makes more of a difference than in normal PC games, so why not tell him?

I didn't read your entire conversation, I've missed that part about the CPU. I'm talking about the GPU making no difference and to not waste money on new rigs only for Citra because 99% of the people in this thread don't have a clue about emulation/hardware/software development, this is not specific to you, more like a general warning (some things had been said to death here until some of them get the point of some obvious stuff, like stupid people sharing illegal files for example). One of the obvious things was about the GPU not making difference at all (and you would know if you read this thread, the official thread or just asked around the https://community.citra-emu.org/), at least for anyone around Citra development for some time (like a month or less).

Restarting your computer isn't really a good tip to begin with (your PC must be REALLY old/bad for this to make any difference on Citra performance, or you don't know how to manage your hardware/resources correctly).

Yo. Ik that this is offtopic. But it is a warning to anyone who uses modded 3DS for Citra on Youtube. It looks like anything that is a part of 3ds hacking and homebrew are copyright claim or by high chance, copyright infringement. 12 of my Citra videos have been taken down by non other Nintendo of America and I got one strike for "illegal piracy".

Now this is confusing because 12 of these videos doesn't have links to shared_font.bin or any roms. Just links to the unofficial build or the official build. It's probably the audio. What's even more confusing is that my Freeshop tutorial hasn't taken down by Big N which I have the chance to set it Private before some dumb idiot flag it for piracy.
Just a fair warning, try not to make a video with popular Nintendo games on an emulator or just mute the entire video and replaced it with Youtube's sample music or whatever. I still don't know the main reason on why my 12 videos have been taken down(how is emulator related to piracy? It's my own copy. I deleted the ones that I got off the internet), but Nintendo has gone too far.

You're "striked/content claimed" in new videos or olders videos ?
Protip: even if you own the 3DS console and the game, you don't have the legal rights to upload gameplay footage of their games (because Nintendo hates you and you should know this by now).

Old vids and yeah, Nintendo are jerks unlike Sony, Microsoft, Sega, or Capcom.
I'm pretty sure that Nintendo doesn't want anyone to make let's plays with their games.
Edit: I'll see what I can do to recover my vids.

You can register your channel in their "Nintendo Creators Program" to be able to get some of the money from monetization in videos with Nintendo copyrighted content. But for sure, almost nothing you make about emulation would be allowed (and this is where they get you...). Oh, also you're not allowed to have bad opinions about any Nintendo related product (this is why EVERY "official" channel that cover Nintendo games are 100% liars)

Came here after a long time.
Sooo what did I miss?
Depends on when was the last time you used the emulator. Performance wise, it's almost the same. Code wise: some refactors here and there, a little change on the file format for macOS, the name of the build is changed on the tittle bar ("Nightly" and "Bleeding Edge" text will show for different builds). Plus some fixes and clean ups, nothing really major, but lot's of little nice things

That's nice to hear! Plus pretty much went inactive like last one month so I guess this is it! Thanks!

Guys which build is better for Fire Emblem Fates - Special Edition ?. I mean i use latest BE and fps in battle sometimes very low. Might be other build give better fps? or not?
The one form 16.02 crashes as soon as you try to load a game so either use the on from 06.02 or BE.
