Its not like I didn't look, I checked the Nintendo website and some other one... (not knowing the name isn't helping my credibility, I know :P) I just never saw anything telling me about the faux updates in the tutorials, and 2 of them were text tutorials as well. Don't wanna come of too nooby, thats all. (also never saw anything about the "stickies" either)
Is fine if you wish to ask questions, just not everyone thinks or knows what you have or haven't done so just be warned that not everyone is gonna be polite if they see the same thing like 4 times a week. I understand not everything is always remarked in tutorials, but most likely others have done the same thing with blocking updates, as well as asked the question, searching will eventually give you a answer. Quite positive 100% people will ask the questions, denoting the fact that F.A.Q exist FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS. Especially on popular topics. :P

You haven't done anything wrong so is okay, just expect some bad responses and don't be offended if you get them. if you ever need good sources of information about tutorials, either here in the tutorial section or some wiki pages on github will be the most common place or any site with homebew enablers are hosted such as loadiine.ovh :)

Great! rednand has bricked twice in the past month, and the process of re dumping is getting monotonous, what can i do to avoid bricking? All i have been doing is playing mario kart and splatoon, and things like that, no cheats. is there a wrong time to power down or something? Can you point me tward a tutorial or tell me common reasons for rednand bricking? (i have haxchi if that changes anything)
Coincedentally, i was up at 5am today trying to HAXCHI or MOCHA CFW my wii. I managed to sucessfully do it with this page tutorial.

https://github.com/FlimFlam69/WiiUTutorial/wiki

It was linked here from the loadiine.ovh website. The links on the right of each chapter teaches you how to do all of the requies stuff. Preparing sd card (Starter pack) Block nintendo updates, running homebrew exploit, installing haxchi and homebrew launcher, Rednand and mocha CFW and optional Vwii homebrew channel with cios install mod for Wii game WBFS backups. :)

I didn't use rednand, because i knew i had 32GB system and require 64GB SD card which i wouldn't use mandatory for wii. But i did the simple option. It explains everything and provides you with all the required information and tools to safely install the mocha CFW, and it worked for me. I been playing Super mario advance 4 on it with no issue. :P

Most likely if is a issue with Rednand, is probably the sd card, perhaps it has some flaws or corruption, so is a possibility. You may want to test with a tool everyone uses, to make sure is perfectly fine of any problems, then format it using sandisk official sd formatter (Gui 32 Format) program if you have over 32GB sd card. Cause it needs to be fat32 format, 32KB cluster or 64KB cluster (Depending on some people) All the information is in the guide for you to safely execute. :D

I dunno if it helps but the page mentioned above has a faq section which list varios caues of bricking. http://www.wiiubru.com/rip/

See if any of them applies to you and how you can prevent it.

Don't feel bad for asking a perfectly concerned question. But other members here maybe feel bad that you didn't look hard enough for the answer.

But serious, sorry for the hostility to you the members have displayed, while i cannot apologize fo them personally, i do feel bad people cannot either ignore the thread they so much dislike in favor of posting unncessary comments to a new comer. But according to various websites. For example.

View attachment 77460

Additionally, please do not watch video tutorials unless from trusted sources, usually the text tutorials are more well informed on F.A.Q and other updated content more easily and better souced than videos, which require a new video to be uploaded and the time it takes to create + upload video + make it advertized, is far simpler for someone to edit few lines of text to a document. :P
What the fuck is DualHax?
I haven't heard of it at all in here, at least not in the popular hacking threads.

Is the two manually inserted DNS address used to block nintendo updates. :P
https://github.com/FlimFlam69/WiiUTutorial/wiki/1:-Blocking-Updates-From-Nintendo#dualhax

Is called that guess cause DNS setup has a primary and secondary, so dual as in 2. I dunno. Is what i read here so don't fight me over this. :D
  • 035.164.240.189 (DNS-U)
  • 168.235.092.108 (ns3.titledb.com, hosted in LA)
  • 081.004.127.020 (ns2.titledb.com, hosted in Netherlands)

Ah so it's just DNS blocking, that's not exactly a "hax", a hack basically means an exploit or a homebrew entry-point afaik.
So yeah, that Wiki has it's terminology somewhat wrong. xD
They went the TubeHax route and thought anything DNS related is a "hax", but oh well, I will just drop it there since I got my answer
Thanks for explaining though!

is it safer to apply a secondary dns? or am I good with one?
Both is safer, one will work when the other doesn't. Use the second one since you are in USA, is the los angles server.

Incase one is down the other will activate, it blocks both. :P

Well i didn't write the guide, just used it. But i dunno, it could be new addresses that has been found. The one i
tried from the loadiine.ovh didn't work for me as i had no internet connection.

  • Step 5 : You will be prompted to enter both Primary & Second DNS manually. Do it as follow :
    • Primary : 104.236.072.203 (TubeHax DNS)
    • Secondary : 107.211.140.065 (Chncdcksn hax)
These DNS aren't the same from the guide i used to which did work. So i dunno, maybe ask the person who wrote it.

FUN FACT: Neither are HAX at all but is called hax :P

The dsi got an update 2 years after the 3ds came out so the fact the wiiu is dead is zero indication into if a update will arrive or not. Do you honestly think nintendo won't bring an update out for Breath of the wild. They are bringing out the biggest game they have ever made no way are they just going to sit back and let everyone get the wiiu version for free.

True but at that time they still were releasing games for the DS.
It is possible that there will be an update right before or after the Switch.
But Zelda will have likely 5.5.1 anyway since it is now ready for the market.

Yes it's ready for the market but how do we know that nintendo has not had a update ready for a while and have just been waiting for Breath of the wild to come out.
