"An error occurred while the SD card was being written to." whenever I load the game up. Game region is EUR, 3DS region is NA

EDIT: Nevermind, delete.

Could you let us know if you got it working. Mine is saying the same thing about the SD error. I can run other region stuff on my US 2DS from the freeshop. I am guessing this have something to do with the save file itself.

disable then re-enable the "use region/language emu. and ext. .code"

Tried that. Still the same error. Also created the locales file for luma using both AUS or EUR for the title key 000400000018f200. Now instead of giving the error about the SD card the game simply just hangs on the 3ds logo.

Have you tried this aswell?

Okay just got it working. Here's what I did (this should work for everyone using a9lh+luma):

- Hold Select while Powering On your 3DS to bring up the Luma3DS configuration menu
- Make sure Enable region/language emu. and ext. .code is enabled
- Press Start to save and reboot
- Run LumaLocaleSwitcher and find your game under Titles
- Select Change Region -> EUR
- Reboot
(mandatory)

- Game should now be playable

If you are using a Luma nightly (specifically the one that allows for ips patches being on the sd card instead of a patched code.bin) this will not work. What you have to do instead is have a file named locale.txt in SD/luma/titles/000400000018F200 (for DQ8 at least) which contains the region (EUR in this case) and language (EN, FR, etc) separated only by a space

Where do you get the file locale.txt from?

You can also find it at a certain ISO site.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I pulled it from when I tried to use LumaLocaleSwitcher and just moved and renamed it.
I dont get it? what do i do in luma locale switcher to get the file? do i manually have to put the file on my sd card in the luma folder?

Yeah the file has to be manually moved/renamed. There's nothing stopping you from making one without LumaLocaleSwitcher since it's only 5 characters.

I didn't mean to overcomplicate this, sorry

Im using a EU N3DSXL so I havent had any problems with DQ8, but from what Ive seen on other sites there are multiple ways to get the game to start correctly.
One being LumaLocaleSwitcher that fools the game into thinking your console has the right region.

Other people have changed there meny language to Frensh, but I can neither confirm nor deny if this will work for you.

But if you still have problems, or dont feel like installing things you dont understand. Simply get the version thats for your region. Both EU and US versions are out not.

Where to find them???
There are rules on this site that prohibits links to copyrighted materials so you have to search for it yourself.

Umm... Where do you think they're getting the EUR version in the first place? You seem to be missing the point: The EUR version with uncensored costumes and Orchestral music. There is no US version of this.

Not sure what your trying to say. I know that GBATemp prohibits you from sharing links to copyrighted materials. I'm not saying that its hard to find.
As for your comment "There are no US version". Try visiting the same ISO site and youll see that theres a US version both as an untouched .3DS/.CIA file and with the Uncensored Consumes + Orchestal Music added it to (only the cia version i think).

If you feel like breaking that rule, try linking to the files directly if you like.

My point being that anyone asking about issues with an out of region game, most likely already got said game from that place (so you never even needed to mention it, other than the fact a USA one was available... that would have stopped me from replying at all). I was unable to find the USA version in the ISO one myself. I did find it in the chaos place though. Then looked farther and remembered why I forgot all about the chaos place. Most links there are HORRIBLE with popups and other mischief...

Then you should start by reading the thread subject "trouble with the eshop version". That would suggest that he/she got it with freeShop and not from a download site. And I was just passing on the tips I read on the ISO site that I hoped could help him. He was asking if I could link to a file, but that would be to violate the rules of this forum. Nothing more, nothing less.

And Im serious wondering how its possible for you to Not find the US version. All you have to do it try google. then the game name + 3ds + iso. How hard can it be??
