New 100% Discreet 3DS Hardmod

If this needs to be moved somewhere else that's fine. I just wanted to share my idea with everyone. This is an alternate way to hardmod 3DS systems. It works the same exact way as in the thread posted here @ https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutorial-noob-friendly-nand-dumping-2ds-3ds-3ds-xl-n3ds-n3ds-xl.414498/ Since there is already a guide on hardmods I'll just leave pictures of it. This method doesn't require any housing/shell modifications for any model which was actually the motive for making this. If people ask I can provide more details and better pictures.

It does have an easier chance of breaking than the other methods. I figured it wouldn't really matter that much though if you're really careful and since you'd only really be using it a few times ever.

I was looking into this as a mod not requiring any shell/housing modification. I will be looking into designing and making an E3 clip type thing soon though.

Not possible.

e3 clips over a NOR chip that has legs, 3ds is NAND is balled, not legs, so it won't work.
Okay to clarify obviously an actual clip like the E3 flasher won't work especially with the models that have some pads on the otherside. I was thinking of some type of clamp which could very well work in theroy.

Every console has points on different locations, plus, if the "clamp" slips you will run risk of frying the nand, would help, if you actually looked at and took apart the 3ds. Not to mention you have to reassemble the console to power it on...so your clamp idea with not work.

Okay, maybe you could explain to me why a custom made clamp specifically designed to be touching the solder pads where hardmods are done won't work.
don't listen to negative nancy. Don't you know that life is impossible in this universe? anyways keep on experimenting i'm sure you'll get it right with dedication.

It's nothing negative, it's simple facts. Like I said, if you don't know the hardware, you don't know what I'm talking about. I know the hardware, I know a clamp will not work.

that's weird that vb_encryption_vb seems to think i don't know the hardware when he has nothing to come to that conclusion besides the pictures of the outside and inside of that 3ds that i modded i guess hardmods are just doable without that knowledge now

Don't let it get to you, if it works, great. if it doesn't at least you try. it's your console and you decide what to do with it. If you wanna sell something, then yes you will get heat from many people because it puts users at risk and they want security for the community. If you are showcasing your mod then I think it looks pretty cool. I saw a mod in reddit 3ds hacks that it's pretty discreet, it has a hardmod, bluetooth, wifi charging. 99% discretion is doable.

he does have a point though, for the clamp to reach the area needed it would have to be pretty big, most models have the nand contact points directly behind the LCD, so having a clamp there simply wouldn't work, a realistic approach would be the likes of a quick solder flex pcb, but again the fact there is 6 different console revisions/variations all with a different pinout layout would make production costly as you would need to cater to several different potential boards, that's not factoring in the design process which would probably need a few takes before finalising the designs

but then your back to square 1 with the owner still needing to own soldering equipment etc, and at this point they could probably have just sent it to be done by someone as the actual placement isn't where most people fail, most people fail because they tear something while removing the board, or mess up while soldering and get solder splashes on the board

and at this point in time with most consoles being hackable and hardmods not helping with 11.3 I would not suggest anyone waste their time trying to produce a product that has such a tiny window of usefulness (ie only people who have bricked already)
