The homogenization of in-game graphics that you speak of, and there certainly are exceptions but I think much of that has to do with the fact that big games today are so expensive that companies are much less likely to take risks and use unique art styles, hence why we usually see the experimental games on systems like the 3DS as well as on the indie market. I'm not defending such practices but that's my best guess.
Meh, if the game now are too expensive, they shooted theirself in the foot with powerful consoles that require so work for make realistic graphic and always open-world (i start to dislike open world, i love level structures lol. Child nowaday didnt know how fun was when an enemy pursuit you and when you you reach the endline of a level and eneter in new one, the enemy disappear xD)

Well that opens up quite another can of worms, but my main issue with modern games is all the DLC crap but if I go into a rant about that my post will simply be deleted. My other point is that one doesn't even NEED a big budget to make a beautiful game with many old classics being perfect examples. Last Blade 1-2 on the NeoGeo are considered incredibly primitive by today's standards yet thosse games still look gorgeous while many games that are only 5 years old or so have aged terribly. Street Fighter IV is an example of a game that has graphically aged badly imo while 3rd Strike still looks quite sexy.

3rd Strike is the best as graphic, style and gameplay! Maybe not the best as characters cast, but the best as the game of his series (at least, for me)
I still play and love Final Fight 3 and Super Double Dragon; looks sexy and funny, and both are very old games (dont say "nostalgia"; i'd know about those 2 games only last year, and i instantly loved them!). Instead, fighting games on latest console generations get boring easly lol.

Double Dragon 3 NES(arcade version is horrific) is criminally underrated and it also does away with those terrible reverse controls from DD2. It's about as hard as a beat-em-up can get and I've only actually beat the darn game once, but for an NES beat-em-up it's really good if you can get past the super cheap last boss and the classically awful DD platforming sections. Soundtrack's pretty good too. DD2 has that awesome final boss fight but other than that I see DD3 as the better game with its multiple characters and better controls.

Oh, and while I agree with the 3rd Strike cast as a whole, dudley is so much cooler than M. Bison/Balrog. GUTTER TRASH

Since i have 0 skill on video mounting/ editing, someone here would co-op with me to make a video about this gen games?
Maybe we can post on both youtube channel or only on his/her (i'm not interested on views, only share my opinion of non-braindead consumer)
i only want to prove how identical are ps4 games at each other (same open-world, same animation, same "realistic" graphic and so on)
There's no more games with its own identity, only realistic shits. That video might be a non-conformist opinion about how games must be and looks, over our own taste...
