"best portabillity"
nope
"outsell the 3DS"
VERY unlikely
"system that will impact how other gaming companies create their franchises."
Oh god I hope not
Well, then let's be glad that Nintendo is here. To let us expect the unexpected. (The system isn't in any one of our hands yet)

I'm not even going to point out the 3rd party bit, b/c right now it kinda looks like dejavu. As for the online payment I really hope it has a purpose behind it. Like they are gonna need to have more online playable games other than their popular titles such as splatoon,MK8,and Smash4 b/c we all know Nintendo is really wet behind the ears in the online dilemma. I'm not gonna sub for something that only focuses on a few online titles

The real reason they are charging 80 for the controller is to boost console sales. For just just a few dollars more you can get a controller and a console! Sweet deal.

I've been doing the maths myself, and I have to admit that I don't see enough reasons to pay 299$ for the Switch, when I could get a ps4 slim for the same price, yet that is. Software-wise I'm a lot more interested in what Sony has to offer than Nintendo with it's Switch. I'm eager to play Dragon Quest XI and if the Switch can put out the same experience as the PS4 then good, but not enough.

I think at the moment I'm more leaned towards buying a cheap-ass WiiU to experience the millions of GC, Wii (+the few WiiU) games than these few games. It's funny to think that if they announced that they've been porting shit tons of the last three generations of games (which is impossible) I would've bought one immediately.

AND it's not gonna replace my N3DS anytime soon, so the portable part is irrelevant as of now...

I do hope Nintendo does well and gets some money with this so that years from now I'll be able to enjoy some good games on it.

Other than the online pay and extra controller prices, I am excited for it. I hope Nintendo just focuses on this one console as I am not a fan of them jumping back and forth when releasing 1st games.

I'll admit it, I love the Nintendo Switch. From the TV to Portable gameplay, it looks like one of Nintendo's best consoles yet. The launch titles aren't the greatest, however I feel I'd be spending too much time in Breath of the Wild anyway. The only thing stopping me from pre-ordering is the shortage in Canada, but also the price, $540 for the console and BoTW is a little bit more than what I'm willing to spend, but I might just do it...

After trying it at the even, the console itself is very solid. The controllers are rather comfy, though zelda did stutter at a few moments. Arms is stupid fun :D that Switch event was dynamite. Though my buddy sucks at milking cows

I haven't voted, as you haven't got the right vote for me, but i have preorder 3, just incase, i may cancel them all, i may keep them all.

If it sells good, i may just keep 1 for the household and sell the others, if the price is right, i could end up getting it for free, if i can make a profit on the other 2, sometimes cex will give you a decent trade in for cash on release day.

A few reasons.
1. you are not guaranteed to get any pre-orders, so 3 i maybe looking at a good chance
2. i have 3 kids as well as me.
3. if i do get them all, i could sell 2 for a profit and keep 1, which in turns makes mine cheaper than the full price everyone else will pay, sometimes cex uk will pay £100 mor

To fairly compare the value with your phone or PC, I think you need to comapre how much each costs and how different they really are, both physically and in-use. Apples to oranges.

I think the multiplatform games will be crippled on the Switch (ie. smaller graphical content + worse sound) than any of the common Blu-Ray-based releases we see on other home consoles due to smaller cartridges being cheaper to manufacture & online games needing to fit in limited storage space too. That's just one of the many compromises the Switch concept requires, in my opinion. Sony gave us incredibly more expensive hardware with the Vita (compared to the 3DS at the time) but still had to make their money back with the memory cards. That was definitely a big part of their Vita downfall. At least here it's a far cheaper storage format. Nintendo know 'cheap' very well (sometimes too well...).

I don't anticipate seeing MicroSD read speeds as being a bottleneck with the Switch. I think they are plenty fast. But we'll see. You can get MicroSD that read 80MB/s+ for peanuts these days. It will be interesting to see how the 40 MB/s+ models do too. I don't anticipate major problems but we'll see. I think the real bottlenecks are elsewhere.
i paid 300$ for my rig (without the hdd, but with an ssd). and it shreds the ps4 to pieces. (i5 6500, rx 460 2gb, 8gb 2666mhz ddr4, 240gb kingston v400 ssd)

For those complaining about prices of games, check out how much SNES games were during their time on shelves:

Look at bloody Killer Instinct at $87. More expensive than any of the titles for the Switch. Go from 1996 dollars to 2016 dollars and it actually costs $134.

For those complaining about the price of the console, I present this:

http://i.imgur.com/5iab465.jpg

199.99 for an N64. Not bad, but again, inflation from 1996 to 2016 gives us $307. For just the console and one controller, no rumble pack, no controller pak, just the console and one controller.

I don't believe I remember any console release where people didn't complain about the price.

1996 JP import launch N64 = £400/$600 - 2000 PS2 JP import launch £550/$800 are some examples myself and others paid back in the day. This was not scaplers as eBay didn't exist nor the internet to the way it is now. So, £279 is nothing for a new system, so yeah, nobody complained back then like it is now.

I really like the Switch. It feels better than the Wii U GamePad. A comparison I made was that whilst the Switch has more tech in it, it feels a lot lighter, and it doesn't feel as cheaply made as the Wii U's GamePad feels. Breath Of The Wild is really quite fun, and Splatoon 2 seems like it will be an improvement on the first. My main issue with the games I tried was that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is literally the full version of Mario Kart 8, due to it having the features 8 should have had from the start, but ended up having cut. Also, Arms is quite fun, and it's better than the Presentation made it look.

Switch is basically a slightly overclocked Wii U.

I'll probably get one near its EOL.
I think you are confusing a few things here... the WiiU was/is basically an "overclocked" Wii. (Okay, actually, 3 Wii's stapled together with a slightly better GPU attached.)
The Switch is based on an entirely different chipset - it's a bit like comparing a laptop with a smartphone. This thing will have a completely different capability profile, when compared to the previous few generations.
