How is ModMii outdated?

Yeah, I'd like to know what replaced it, too.:wtf: ModMii was THE reference to hack a Wii, back in the days, and it probably still is, even though some download links within it are probably broken, after all this time.

Sorry. Outdated does not convey what I meant to get across, "dated" is a better word.

Thanks for the correction.

Yes, that's understood. It is kind of old. I wonder when was the last update? Then again, hacking a wii is really yesterday's thing. Heck, the WiiU is practically done for. Everyone's waiting for the Switch.

It was updated to fix dead download links a month or two ago. You could just go look at the support thread, ya know. :P

funny story, the SD card slot just gave out. It doesn't click anymore, it just keeps pushing the card out. In my attempts to fix this issue without disassembling the console, I broke one of the pins -_-
I'm gonna have to solder a new one after all DX
do you know if it requires a specific type, or would any push-push slot work fine?

EDIT: found this link for a lot of 6 slots, not sure if they'll fit. Also, while I have experience soldering and desoldering components, I've never done so with SMD components, so if there's an alternative route, please inform me

Yeah, I could, but no motivation to do so, since I have no need to use ModMii (my Wii was hacked years ago). It was just a rhetorical question. :P Thanks for answering anyway, and happy new year!

so, I got the SD card sockets from the link, and I realized after disassembling the wii that there's an extra pin that doesn't exist in regular sd slots. On top of that, I couldn't desolder the original slot, so I had to brake it off, so now I can't put it back.
Any ideas?

alright, so I connected the CD pin to ground, and it seems to work fine now, but it thinks that there's an SD slot in the system all the time. I also found out that there is ANOTHER pin called WP (write protection), but I managed to copy something to the SD card without it connected to anything, so I didn't touch it, since I THINK if I connect it to ground I won't be able to write anything to the SD card.
Now that I have access to the SD card, I will try to do the syscheck thing that John_Ice suggested

I just downloaded syscheck and ran it, and it finished successfully. I can view the report on the wii, but I can't find the .csv file on the sd card anywhere...

I used modmii to download syscheck
it's possible that the sd card is write protected, since I didn't connect the WP pin on the card socket to ground (couldn't find any documentation on the thing ok :c) which would mean that I would have to open the wii up again, and that would take a good few hours, so I'm going to have to do it on an off day DX

Try the Syscheck apps in my signature to see if it will work.

So.
I was right. The write protection was on, and I had to connect the WP pin to ground. However, what was labeled as WP wasn't the pin I was supposed to connect to ground, so thank you nintendo for confusing the crap out of me for a few hours.

Anyways, I managed to get it to work, and I managed to make it only recognize that an SD card is inserted if it's not locked. Cuz I noticed that you can come across so many bugs with homebrew software if it was locked. Also it was either that or having it think that there was always a card inserted.

TLDR, I got it to work, and I got the syscheck.csv.

I would switch that IOS249[56] beta53 out with beta52 like 250 is. Beta53 is only useful if you can't use USB port 0 on your console and causes all kinds of compatibility headaches.

I really wish I could edit the title...
so, I seem to be able to load games just fine ever since I switched to a hard drive (was using a usb stick). Haven't had any issues loading wii games

HOWEVER! I can't load any gamecube games whatsoever! I tried usbloader gx, configurable, wiiflow, and retail discs. All I get is a black screen. No audio, and no blue blinking light. I don't get anything.

I don't know if this is important or not, but when it did work before, it would switch the system to 480p mode, which my tv didn't support, so I had to connect to composite, switch it back to 480i, then back to component. I have DIOS MIOS installed, as you can probably tell.

I'm not sure that you should just find ioses and install them, you might do something wrong and catch a brick. The best way is to use Pimp my Wii, but I think the problem is in your HDD. Try switching the HDD to MBR or to GPT. Also make sure that it's FAT32/NTFS/WBFS with recommended cluster settings.

I don't think it's a hard drive problem, because as I mentioned earlier, even retail discs have this issue

Are you trying to load Gamecube games with DM? Versions of it < 2.10 disable the disc channel's support for GC discs. 2.10 and 2.11 don't.

Gamecube loaders all expect the game partitino to be MBR/FAT32/Primary and first one on the disk. I know Nintendont has GPT and exFAT support but virtually no other homebrew supports those so I wouldn't recommend using them.
