Ok, this is where I am at... I tried to create EmuNAND in EmuNAND9 (Selected "SD Format Options", then default EmuNAND). Then copied all my stuff back to N3DS mSD card. I disabled Auto-Boot SysNAND in Luma Settings so it would default boot my EmuNAND. I rebooted system and I am not sure if I am indeed in EmuNAND or not, still says sys in front of system firmware string in system settings. Not sure what I did wrong, if anything.... Thoughts appreciated :)

Try setting your default emuNAND to boot at "1" again, that should fix it.

@KunoichiZ said I did it wrong and that I needed to choose "Complete EmuNAND Setup" in EmuNAND9 and then use TinyFormat to unlink NANDS... Can someone PLEASE walk me through doing this?

Okay, if you set up your emunand correctly - format sysnand with tiny format (make a backup first)

This will unlink them, and you can simply set different themes for sys and emunand. Then you will easily be able to tell which is which.

If you messed up, and you didn't really set up emunand, then you can just restore your sysnand and troubleshoot from there.

She is correct.
You have to have chosen "Complete emuNAND Setup" and it does the rest.
All you have to do from there is configure it your 3DS to boot emuNAND and format either sysNAND/emuNAND.

How do I create an Emunand that supports Gateway ("select" to choose ROM list)? Do I have to use Gateway's Emunand creator? Or can I use Emunand9 to create an Emunand that will work with Gateway ("select" to choose ROM list function) ?

I've seen people saying somewhere that the Emunand created by Gateway is not as optimized as the one created by Emunand9.

EmuNAND9 should work, just make sure you chose a normal EmuNAND and not a RedNAND. I have no experience with using a Gateway though.

I have a N3DS with A9LH and Luma on it and I also use Gateway, but currently no EmuNAND on system. I am going to create an EmuNAND today, but have a few questions before I begin:

These are the steps I was told to follow:

1. Backup N3DS mSD card
2. Create EmuNAND in EmuNAND9
3. Copy stuff back to N3DS mSD card
4. Set Auto boot EmuNAND in Luma Settings
5. Format SysNAND in System Settings to unlink NANDs?

But, do them in this order: 1,2,5,3,4

Before I begin, I have questions on the following:
1. How do I boot into Gateway Mode after EmuNAND is created? Currently, I have it set to boot GW Mode by pressing "down" on N3DS system boot. I think it is a Luma payload, but not sure what that is or what it means?
2. When in Gateway Mode, what NAND is it running? Is it running in EmuNAND?
3. When in EmuNAND, how do I know I am indeed in EmuNAND? Does it say "emu" in front of system firmware string in System Settings?

Thoughts and help appreciated :)
