your warranty should still be good with nintendo...so call them up and send your ds. it should take about 2 weeks

Is there an alternative way to do it then sending it to Nintendo because by the time they send it back I'll be gone for two months on Vacation in Hong Kong.

That's an act worthy of a dismissal post haste. Either that or no pay for the next six months. My butler did something similar to me, actually, he washed my money one night and one of the 1000 euro notes was slightly damp the following morning so I banished him to the dungeon for three years. my r button goes out every once in a while. i got advice on another forum to shake the ds while clciking the button about 100 times. works every time.
