Am I the only one who suddenly becomes alarmed with the Mario Run Demo

This is no where near Rayman jungle/ festa run with getting all 100 lums (granted lums and coins work very differently) and the more precise platforming, though it requires only one hand which might be a trade off of less complicated structures. Anyway it's still way better than auto runner.

Then again, you'll also have to consider price... If Mario Run costs less than similar games, then it having slightly less is justified.
Isn't it going to cost $10? I'm not really familiar with mobile games, but I think that's above the average of other games in the same genre, right?

It's free to play, but unlocking all the content is $10. Compare with other games and that's really expensive. Though that's just comparing it to paid games like Final Fantasy which cost a fortune to download. If you take games like Candy Crush into account, then it's the least expensive game you'll ever get on your phone! :^)

Rayman Festa Run and Jungle run together is $6 without discount. Both game have more levels and have better platforming. I know this sound weird, but Ubisoft is doing something nice for a change. However they do have non essential iap upgrades compared to Mario, but that doesn't change anything.

"Unlocking all the content" as in...? Like, do you only have access to a few levels, or is it like in Rayman Jungle Run where you can get all the levels by playing the levels but you can also unlock all the levels from the get go by paying a fee?

If I'm remembering right, you have access to a few levels as something of a free demo, but the rest of the game, what I'm lead to believe is the vast majority of it, is behind the paywall. I think it's essentially a paid game with a free demo built in.

Not really surp (rised Nintendo finally fell more to the dark side of gaming: freemium.

Super Mario run is not freemium...

It has one in-app purchase to unlock the full game...

The free part is basically a demo of the game... this is sadly missing for pretty much every new game out there on consoles... (Nintendo is an exception since they actually have demos for some of their games...)

They did however say that some of their other games coming to iOS could be freemium...

Personally I think freemium should die...

DLC is different because that is actually adding content and that concept has been around for a while now...

DLC essentially started on PC as expansion packs to the game... The Sims is probably one of the worst in that regard...

Of course some DLC is literally an unlock code for content that was already on the original disc... that's just BS..

I think $4.99 would be perfect.
That definitely sounds reasonable, but considering how massive Nintendo is and how many people are going to buy the game purely because Mario is in it, I think it could be even cheaper.

You don't want it too low, but 10 bucks will drive away lots of potential customers. And the game is really short for that price.

I think $10 is just too much for a game like this.

I'd have to agree but ultimately Nintendo is targeting people who have grown up with Mario as kids and now have more money to spend on games...

Who knows... maybe they'll add more levels as free updates...

If so many people are going to buy it anyway, what business sense is there in lowering the price?

The pricetag ($15AUD, what a joke) and the fact that you can only play it when you're online will make me give it a pass altogether (or, perhaps ironically, just pirate it).

I've heard rumours that it doesn't work on jailbroken devices and, considering that my Android is rooted, I probably won't be able to waste my money on it even if I wanted to.
