After step 6. but before 7, I get an error message.

Edit. I somehow got it working. waiting to see if I get connections.

ALRIGHT SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, I'm probably not really helping anyone by posting this here now, but better late than never I suppose! For people having trouble with NBAHomepass 2.1.0 I'm gonna do a step by step. Although I'm not sure how far I can get you since I'm running into an issue myself ^^;;;;;

Make sure you have the router/internet connection that you want to use set up for sharing, to do so go into network settings, change adapter options, then right click the router and go to properties, change tab to sharing, click the box so that sharing of this network is turned on.

1. Download the mac list and the updated homepass from here if you don't already have version 2.1.0 from this wonderful person http://mrnbayoh.tumblr.com/downloads
2. Place both in the same folder and take note of the folder's directory (C:/downloads/homepass for example)
3. Grab command prompt and shove it into the folder with the other things for easy access
4. Right click command prompt and then choose run as admin
5. Go to the directory where the folder from earlier was located (in this case it's C:/downloads/NBAhomepass so you could just do C: enter cd downloads/NBAhomepass enter which brings you to the file)
6. Next is using the files in the folder with NBAhomepass.exe BASE256.txt true 300 30. ( This just means [Filename.exe] [Fileread.txt] [shuffle true/false] [openlength in seconds] [delay seconds]. Your command line should look C:/downloads/NBAhomepass>NBAhomepass.exe BASE256.txt true 300 30)
P.S. Capitals aren't important since the computer will fill them in for you.
7. Now there will be a prompt asking which of your routers you will want to use and you input the appropriate number and then hit enter (shows up as a list, but since I only have the one it shows 0.Wi-Fi so for me its just 0 enter)
8. Now there's another list numbering from 0 to 4, and you select the appropriate number from the list again and then hit enter (I dont have it infront of me right now because I'm super tired, also my only use is option 0)
9. It should give you two conformation lines at this point, where you hit enter at each line and then you're good to go. Although you should double check on your router's settings to be sure that you are sharing with the actual program and not something else.

Here is my issue and its probably all just because of my computer with my luck. Consolenintendo3ds is detectable by my n3ds xl, it definitely exists as a conection on my computer, and it sends out packets, BUT I'm not receiving any packets. Any help I can get is appreciated and I hope my steps are able to help those who are struggling with the running of homepass

I typed these in btw, and that removed my error message.

netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=NintendoSpotPass2

netsh wlan start hostednetwork I can also see that it's automatically connecting to Console3DS

First of all, big ups to everyone posting here, love what you do and while I've been lurking I've learned a bunch!

On to my question now: I'm using the PC method described earlier in the board, and seem to have everything working, I've got a virtual wifi adapter up, able to manually change my usb dongle MAC address, heck even got nbahomepass up and running automatically cycling MAC addresses! The only trouble is, everytime I change the MAC address on my wifi dongle, the virtual adapter stops working!

Essentially once the MAC address is changed, the virtual adapter says it "cannot start (code 10)". Looking up code 10, it says it's a driver issue, but it's literally using the same baked in windows driver whether it's working or not. I revert the MAC address back on the wifi dongle and voila, suddenly the virtual adapter works again despite me not changing its soccer ore anything about it.

I've searched both the board and just Google in general and literally no one seems to have this problem! Any ideas? I'm truly stumped. Tested on my computer, my wife's computer, my tp link usb dongle and her netgear wna1100 usb dongle, same thing happens under each variation in hardware.
Thanks for your help!

Hi guys! I stumbled upon this thread from the GlacierGaming page and I just read the last couple pages of discussion. I first discovered the Homepass "hack" in January 2016 when I needed a way to get a Mew code for Pokemon X/Y since my country did not have in-store distributions. I managed to get the whole thing working on my ASUS laptop with the built-in wifi card and I got my code through the Nintendo Zone app on my 3DS. I was amazed it worked and I tried to set up a StreetPass relay using the same instructions, but this time I couldn't get it to work.

Lately I decided to give it another try : using the same laptop, I've downloaded the latest NbaHomepass.exe (2.1) and the MAC list. I've seen the posts by Symph and Bambamthepyro and I managed to get the whole thing working...except for actually getting the much desired green light on my 3DS. The Nintendo Zone network is there, but it doesn't receive any packets : my devices can see it, so can my console as I have had a Nintendo Zone notification, but nothing more happens. I think there's an issue with the virtual network not having internet access : it never shows any sign of connection on the tab. Earlier I had internet access on this virtual network, but no Streetpass, and then I just lost the internet access altogether. Is there any way to make it work? I will try to use an Ethernet cable on my laptop and see how it goes.

By the way, I've noticed on the Homepass Compendium page that some SSID are no longer working: it seems that "NintendoSpotPass2" doesn't work too. Apparently, "attwifi" and "Nintendo_Zone1" are still up and running. Maybe that's your problem, bambamthepyro?

Hey Jashin, thanks for chiming in!
Are you saying that you managed to get it working using ONLY your wireless card on your laptop (i.e. not having it plugged into an ethernet cable as well)? Also did you share the Internet connection from your wifi card with your virtual network? That might explain the issue with connectivity you mentioned.

Also please do check in again after using an ethernet cable to see if it makes a difference. That's next to try on my list but I have to go and dig up a 30ft cable somewhere. the only laptops I have are old xp ones and by desktop is so far from my modem

From what I remember, I managed to get it working back in January with only my built-in wireless card on my laptop (the same model as the one used in the Glacier Gaming Homepass video here).

I did check the "share" option in the settings of the card, but it didn't work. My 3DS will see the Nintendo Zone for a short while but nothing will happen.

I even tried a completely different method: I rooted my Samsung Galaxy S4 and tried setting a Homepass relay through tethering, to no avail. I've realized that the apps used in the different tutorials are all somewhat obsolete and will only work in very specific environments. I could not get them to work for me: again the 3DS will see the Nintendo Zone, and that's it. No Streetpass...

I am considering buying a Raspberry Pi 3, partly because I hate being defeated by hardware/software issues, but I have no guarantee it will work when all the rest has failed. It seems that the last firmware update (v11) broke many things related to Homepass and there isn't much information about what works and what doesn't. It's kinda like coming 3 years after the big thing. But I am determined to make it work!

Lol I know exactly what you mean! Pretty much everything about making a homepass is either several years old, or new but people like us saying its not working

We'll keep digging and figure it out, it's just a matter of time of enough people are trying to figure it out

Update - I found this mac checker on the Glacier Gaming homepass guide - it's out of date for firmware 9.4 or so, but the mac check supposedly looks to see if your wireless adapter is CAPABLE of changing MAC address. Mine supposedly failed.

Now I've been able to change my MAC address on the wifi adapter using Technitium, and once changed it APPEARS to have actually changed (ipconfig /all confirms that the physical address is not what it was before). However, this "failure" to change address as shown by the mac checker MAY explain why my virtual network disappears with a "cannot start (code 10)" error once it is changed.

I'm tempted to pick up a new wifi adapter anyway (since mine is old) but have no guarantee that the new one will be able to change MAC address anyway....or if that'll make a difference. If I do pick one up, I'll run the mac check on it and get back to you on the results, but I'm not holding my breath....

Which method works best for Win 10? I tried that "Before anthing else" guide but the link for the VMware virtual machine is broken. :(

I did it work once with Ubuntu on boot but I don't have the files anymore.

I had it working on my DD-WRT before the major update. But now it seems that also NZ@McD does not work any more. With the mac list.

So another update from me!
I ended up buying a raspberry pi and using spillpass as shown in this guide. it is working 100%!

HOWEVER! it didn't work right away, I was playing around in my router settings trying to figure out why, and found that my modem was set to bridged connection rather tthan routed connection. As soon as I switched that from bridged to routed it immediately started working!

So I can't speak to any other methods, but raspberry pi still works and ensuring your modem is set to routed mode is key!

Happy hunting out there!

I have also noticed Windows has stopped working for Homepass. Looks like it's still working if using a method that involves using an unprotected connection (eg. attwifi). I'm interested if it is still working for most other methods that don't involve needing a password for the connection? Looks like Spillpass still works from above post

EDIT: Never mind I seemed to have got it working on windows again, I'm also working on a Homepass program for windows, hope to have done within next few days :)

Can you give us clear, step by step instructions on how you got it working?

I have made my own so I don't know if I'll be of much help. I haven't used NbaHomePass since like the first version and don't think I've ever used duke_srgs, I believe they are the only Windows ones? But I am working on one to hopefully release soon, that hopefully will work for others. In saying that I'm also interested in what SSID people would think is best to use (see https://yls8.mtheall.com/ninupdates/3ds_nzonehotspots.php?version=v19457), currently the one I'm working on is set up to work with ssid NZ@McD which I believe is what duke_srg's program began using ever since the 11.1.0-34 update and NbaHomePass can use. I don't know if there is a Nintendo Zone out there that offers special items in certain games currently or not.

Have a question. Currently running vmware player with the homepass preconfigured image and followed duke_srg's guide. So far I haven't been able to get any streetpass hits and not sure if it has anything to do with the 3DS 11.1.0+ firmware update. The wifi ssid broadcasts NZ@McD1 and was wondering if I can somehow change the ssid to attwifi and how to go about doing that. Thanks in advance!

NZ@McD1 was removed as a Nintendo Zone in the 11.1.0-34 update so it will no longer work past that version and attwifi is not possible on Windows unfortunately as attwifi is a Nintendo Zone that has no password assigned to it and Windows cannot create a network that doesn't have password. As well as many updates ago Nintendo made it so attwifi needs to be unprotected for it to work as a Streetpass relay or Nintendo Zone

Does it matter if I'm running it through a wifi usb? I only ask because I feel that there is a way to edit the homepass preconfigured image to only run attwifi or change it in some way. I just have no clue of how do go about doing so.

No that shouldn't matter, as long as it can change the MAC Address correctly to what you need it to change too.
