Heya!
Christmas is coming up and my parents have decided to gift me (19 y/of girl) and my sister (17 y/o) the playstation 4. We already own a playstation 3, but in the last year it has barely gotten any use because we both started studying. I've been into gaming for quite some time and I got my sister to enjoy the Wii and PS3 too. She really enjoyed Uncharted and we both loved the Littlebigplanet games. I finished (well, not 100% it but did the main story line) GTA V.

Now, I was wondering what games we should get with our new system. As mentioned before, we both enjoyed Uncharted so Uncharted 4 is the obvious choice. I was wondering if it would be worth it to rebuy GTA V and LBP3 for the PS4. I also enjoyed Smite and Overwatch on the PC. I've tried Assassins Creed before and enjoyed it, but never finished it. Same with Skyrim. Would Skyrim be worth it on PS4?

I've been looking Lp's of games like Oxenfree, Life is Strange, inside and games like that. I really want recommendations for this!

I'd like to get some good games for couch coop (I know this isn't Nintendo!) so my sister and I can enjoy the games together.
Neither me nor my sister are into soccer games (like fifa) or shooter games like call of duty, although if it is highly recommended I will check them out.

Besides the game recommendations I'm hoping to get, I was wondering if a playstation plus subscription is worth it. I have exactly one friend who owns a ps4 and is into the same kind of games that I am, so I don't know how much I'm gonna play online.

Thanks for reading and have a nice day!

TL;DR getting a ps4 & need gaming recommendations (preferably multiplayer)

I can't recommend Final Fantasy XV enough! Fantastic game, and worth your time. It may not be for everyone, of course, so check it out before buying.
If you haven't played much Skyrim before, then yeah, go for Skyrim. Otherwise, it may not be worth it if you have your original copy of Skyrim, as mod support on PS4 is rather limited.

Otherwise, here's my exhaustive list: (note: I played most of these on PC, but they're multi-plat and the exact same on PS4)
  • Life is Strange (very, very good game!)
  • Fallout 4 (it's a shooter, yes, but also an adventure/sort-of-RPG with great atmosphere)
  • Rise of the Tomb Raider
  • BioShock Collection
  • Batman: Arkham Knight
  • Batman: Return to Arkham (the Arkham games are very good)
  • The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (my personal GOTY choice for 2015, fantastic game! get the GOTY edition w/ the expansions)
  • Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
  • X-COM 2 (if you're into strategy games)
  • Dishonored 2 (and/or Dishonored Definitive Edition)
  • The Last Guardian
  • Tales of Zestiria
  • The Kingdom Hearts Remixes (there's a couple of 'em, including one upcoming title)
  • South Park: The Stick of Truth (quite vulgar and dirty, but i had a blast haha)
  • Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster
  • Rocket League
  • Super Meat Boy
  • Dragon Age: Inquisition
And some upcoming PS4 games to watch out for: (or that I'm excited for, at least)
  • Final Fantasy VII Remake
  • Kingdom Hearts III
  • DragonQuest 11
  • Persona 5
  • Tales of Berseria
  • South Park: The Fractured But Whole (see warning for Stick of Truth above)
  • Mass Effect: Andromeda

Don't really have any local multiplayer games to recommend, or any that come to mind at the moment... Plenty of good online multiplayer games, but no local ones that come to mind. If you would've asked for, say, Wii U local multiplayer games, I could name you a dozen off the top of my head right now, but alas xD

Towerfall Accension seem to be popular multiplayer game, but is only on playstation store so you have to download it. Also the playstation plus Is required for online play (hope your internet connections is good, at least wired, cause wifi is bad unless you got the new model PS4 with 5GHZ) But it also gets you free games every month as long as your subscription last and better discount on games. I recently spent just about $80 on what could have costed me over $350 :P

There is benefits to it but since the price increase people really kinda dislike it since it doesn't offer much more with the $10 increase. You can easily find a Voucher card Vendor online that sells it at discounted prices which can save some money, they email the activation code and it works. Just something to consider about the playstation plus. It also works on all your playstation consoles, for free games and discount on PS4 PS3 PSvita and PSP

About some games, perhaps you should tell us what you actually like playing, cause there is RPG games, fighting games, adventure games, platform games and the indie games.

If you like Hack and Slashers you should try DMC definitive edition, its a neat game and runs flawlessly on a Ps4.

Also if you like non-competitive shooter you should try Destiny: the collection, last 2 expansions are great (although its my personal opinión). It has thousands of hours of gameplay and stuff to fo

Until Dawn. It's a fantastic party game.

I'll be sure to check that out! Any words of advice on playstation plus?

Thank you for your long list of game recommendations! Some of them I recognised :) I was also struggling with local multiplayer games, except littlebigplanet :P

I feel like there are 20 variants of that. Any recommendations on which one in particular?

I would recommend overwatch , pretty fun multiplayer shooter
Yeah I have overwatch on PC (my PC can't run it though, my graphics card can't deal with the full game, even though I played the beta no problem!)

Destiny looks very cool. I can borrow a copy from a friend and will try it out for sure!

My Internet connection is very good, so downloading would be no problem. How can I check if it has the 5Ghz connection? It's a Ps4 slim.
The free games are appealing but you won't have them anymore when you aren't a member anymore, that's a bit annoying.

I already looked at Tomb Raider and it definitely seems like something my sister and I would certainly enjoy! We already got LBP2/3 on ps3 so I'm not sure if it's worth to buy it again on ps4. Ill look into Diablo III :)
Thanks for your advice on PS+!

As for what other games I like:
I really enjoy RPG/adventure games like the Legend Of Zelda and Dragon Quest (already planning on Dragon Quest Builders). I like the laid back style of Animal Crossing. I like the strategy involved in Fire Emblem. As mentioned before, I like GTA and Uncharted. (I feel like im mentioning a lot of nintendo games....) I should really finish Bioshock and The Last of Us. They seem really cool but I haven't picked them up to play for a looong time. I'd like to check out some indie games like Oxenfree, Inside ect. Oh and I really enjoyed the Ratchet and Clank games on the ps3 so I'm definitely getting the one on ps4!

If you have a ps4 slim, it does have 5GHZ. Just connect to it using the wifi settings in the game console.

As long as you have the 12 month subscription it would probably not really matter. Is a whole year before you would have to think about not being able to play them. I usually just buy games on sale at discount price with playstation plus, since you did pay for it you can keep it forever instead of having it for free with the active subscription.

To be honest if you have 12 month is probably easy to get used to. Or you can just try the free trial that should come when you first buy a new console. It may seem like is bad but is all just based on opinion. You get free games, better discount on the sales they have, online play modes and cloud storage for save data. So if something ever happens to your system your save data is safe in the cloud. Or if if you visit someone elses house with a playstation, you can download your save data and use it on their syste. :P
