Hi. so this is what i have right now. a9lh 2ds as the source. I want to do a system transfer to a o3ds a9lh.
my 2ds has games already and i have played a few of them and have saves. First I want to keep all the installed games there and the saves on the 2ds. I just want to transfer the acct from the 2ds to 3ds but keep everything as it is on the 2ds. do i just backup the sd card and make a new nand backup then restore after the system transfer? will that allow me to play online still on the 2ds. the o3ds is empty so i dont have any problem with that. I basically just want my legit games on the o3ds and the 2ds to be able to keep the saves and play online.

Yeah just make a sd card & nand backup then do the transfer and restore your backups. But I don't think online play will work without a functioning NNID... But you can always try? If not just do a system transfer back a week later and they'll both stay hacked with functioning NNID's

Hi, I have a question that kind of relates to this, if I DSiWare downgrade system transfer and want to leave as is with fieldrunners and Steeldriver on the target, can the source just be used as normal and have a new NNID created with it?

if i transfer back then all the legit games will go back to the 2ds. i want the 2ds to be the one for my unsigned games. and the 3ds for legit games. i modded the 3ds just to save the hassle that i want it modded and cannot downgrade in the future. but from what im seeing people are saying the 2ds will have problems. and the 3ds i know for sure will be fine. cant i just make a new NNID on the 2ds after the transfer but still keep the games?
?

Yes. Only things tied to your NNID like pokebank won't work. I'm 100% sure you can restore a backup after the transfer and everything will work fine. Your NNID will still be "logged in" because of the backup, but won't actually be able to sign in. To remove the NNID, try to access NNID settings in the system settings and it will give you an error. When the error pops up, hold X+Y and press ok and it will remove the NNID from that console.

Edit: for safety, restore the sd backup before loading the home menu on the source system after restoring its nand. If you don't, it might mess with the sd portion of moveable.sed and it wont be able to read your old "Nintendo 3DS" folder. If that happens, re-restore the NAND and try again.

YES THANK YOU. ill try that. i already made a backup before i transfer so its current. the main prob was the NNID. ill try the X Y method. i didnt even know about that. so after removing the NNID i should be able to play online and access eshop from 2ds? also will be able to play together with my 2ds and 3ds provided i make a new nnid for the 2ds?

Even with the NNID attached u can play most games online, just not actually log into the NNID for things like eShop. U can also just not bother making a new one if you don't care. My system has never had a NNID attached.

alright ill give it a shot. beause some people are saying they cannot play local with the two systems but both work online gaming. this was because they had the same system id or whatnot. the source also could not connect to the eshop. those were the only two main concerns i had.

The shop makes sense because the NNID in the backup isn't valid for that console. Deleting it and making a new one will fix that. Not sure about local play tho. Should be fine either way. After researching the pokemon banwave I can say for sure that a system transfer does not change the system id, so local should work just fine. Maybe that user had another problem causing that? Idk.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

i dont have an sd card adapter but I have an usb sd card adapter

    For your R4
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
It's old but it's the best firmware out for DS stuff
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
it says it only works for the original R4, R4i Gold (r4ids.cn), R4iDSN (r4idsn.com) and Acekard R.P.G.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    nvm it does support mine
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
but why choose it over ysmenu @Psionic Roshambo?

Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card

Slightly slower loading but a bit more convenient
