Pokemon Sun/Moon Save Editing
Guide by:
Gungeon
Short and Simple
Yes you need custom firmware for this to work! (I'm on Luma3DS N3DS)
(This thread will cover mostly on SaveDataFiler)
Homebrew apps used:
- SaveDataFiler/JKSV Save Manager (Any Save Managers that can decrypt saves)
(JKSV will be able to import it but sometimes data gets corrupted for no reason)
A way to access your SD Main Directory I just use the MicroSDNetwork in the 3DS Settings since I have good speed.

PKHex Latest Build: https://mega.nz/#F!jcdXyBBS!SCvymhsXXonrjOy2w7oCEw
I update it frequently and if download doesn't hit me up so I can update this thread.

Here we go!
Open the SaveDataFiler that you installed onto your 3DS; Hover over 0175E(Moon) or 01648(Sun) and press R+X to remove the secure value.

Now Extract user data from 0175E(Moon) or 01648(Sun) by pressing Y then press A to export to SD Card.
bot_0002.jpg
So you exported a savefile huh? Now it should be in your SD Card Directory and if you have to find a way to access your 3DS SD Directory. I'm using Nintendo's MicroSDReader through the my private network.
bot_0003.jpg
On my 3DS SD Directory find the folder "filer" this contains the backup save of all saves exported with SaveDataFiler. Then go into "UserSaveData" which contains all the backup saves exported from SaveDataFiler.
1_filer.jpg
2_user_data.jpg
Inside the "UserSaveData" folder you will have a random folder depends on how many game you backed up wih SaveDataFiler many different folders or just one if it's your first time using it. We are looking for the folders that inside contains 0175e(Moon) and 01648(Sun).

4_0175_E_or_01648.jpg

Inside the 0175e or 01648 folder we are looking for the "main" file which is the decrypted save that can be used with PKHex or any other save editing software.(Should be 432kb for filesize)
5_Main_Save.jpg

I recommend drag the "main" file onto the desktop and making a backup of it like "main_backup" then editing it on the desktop through PKHex
Send it back to Pokemon Sun/Moon just go bring the edited "main" file you used with PKHex and drag it into the 0175e/01648 folder that had "main" file then replace it.

Restore the save with SaveDataFiler by going into the Homebrew itself and using the third tab called "SD" just press A on the file to import. It's either 0175e(Moon) or 01648(Sun).

After you import it you can go back and double check by deleting the secure value like before and then exit out of SaveDataFiler and play the game.

I hope this thread helps you out any questions just ask me on here or pm me.

So i have a question do you think the save format for sun/moon will be the same for every region version? ( cause i'm currently playing the leaked one and i kinda want to inject my savefile into my EU game that i ordered)

Has been for X/Y and OR/AS. So I doubt it'll change this gen.

Yea for some reason Sun/Moon only gets me corrupted data. X/Y no problems when moving save data. OR/AS when moving data my game boot up crashes but and sometimes when trying to save the game with online enable it get stuck on "Don't turn off power" Idk im done with JKSV.

I'm not quite sure if this is the correct place to ask, so apologies if it isn't. I'm trying to trade a perfectly legit 6IV ditto to a friend, but the game says "there is a problem with your pokemon." PKHex claims its legit however. It's literally a 6IV Ditto with Transform, and Limber. Has anyone experienced a similar issue???

Hello everybody!
I don't know if this is the correct place to ask, but I have a problem.
I've used SaveDataFiler and JKSV to extract a Pokemon Sun save, but when I tried to open it with PKHex on OS X it says: 'Attempted to load an unsupported file type/size'.
Do u guys know what could be the problem? Thanks!

I attempted to change my game start date, my original date was 01/01/2001 (either because of system update or because my battery fell out of my DS), I tried changing it to 11/18/16 and the game freezes upon loading my save file, anyone know if there's a fix for this?

Is it true that you can't edit save data on Sun/Moon with updated firmware? (11.1+)
EDIT: Never mind. I need to learn how to read. It says so at the top of the post, haha.

My biggest problem is needing to switch 3DS to edit saves due to my XL being up-to-date. My game then punishes me for "time traveling." Ugh...

Also, I don't have mega... How do I download that file? It's not letting me do so.

Hey guys, this metod works for backing up save data from a cartbridge or just for digital copies? Also I heard the bug of saving in a pkcenter is because the pkHEX... is that true?

Digital version works fine with JKSM and SDF, as do cartridges, doesn't matter. The bug is true, but it's been fixed in the latest commit as far as I've read.

So I been using this for a few days now and it has worked flawlessly

Today though..... after doing the usual process that I usually do I encountered a corrupted save file screeen when launching the game
I have tried reverting back backups I had(i tend to do several), but it doesnt matter how far back the backup is(i tried one from2 days ago) I always keep getting that mys ave file is corrupted

Is tehre anything I can do to recover my save file ? :/

I have a question, has anybody figured out how to save edit in all the zygarde cells? I have 99/100 and can't find the last one for the life of me, even with guides.

Forgot to delete secure value before exporting the save. Modified the save and imported it. Now getting save file corrupt error. Any way to fix this?

Edit: Okay fixed this. Deleted the save on 3DS. Started a new game and made a new save. Exported the new save(without deleting secure value) and the secure value with svdt filer. Opened this new save in pkhex and noted the info shown in the Secure Value 1 & 2 fields in the SAV tab. Then opened up the secure value file with a hex editor and observed how the Secure Value 1 & 2 were formatted in this file. Finally got Secure Value 1 & 2 from the old corrupt save file with pkhex and edited the secure value file with the values from the old corrupt save file. Put the secure value file and the old corrupt file in their corresponding places on the sdcard and imported both back with svdt filer. Fixed.

why can't i change my gender in pkhex but there's a scroll down for it
There was some issues with this feature in XY, so they disabled it. But I hope someone is working on it. Maybe I'll try to explore gender values, I don't wanna start a new game (for the third time) just to change my trainer's gender. ^^'
