I haven't kept up with the 3DS scene lately. My N3DSXL has been working fine with I think menuhax and luma3ds so I haven't felt the need to move to anything new.

My gf however was still using gateway so I want to update her N3DS to whatever the community here feels is the most stable/easiest CFW to use? Her N3DS is on 9.2 currently. She also may have used other exploits to use GW, but I'm not sure if that matters if I want to install a CFW from scratch.

I'm thinking once I get her's up to date I can then figure out how to update my N3DSXL.

install A9lh (arm9loaderhax) using this guide Plailect.github.io/Guide/get-started. It allows to boot CFW on sysnand

Thats what I thought. I'll have to read through that guide again. Once I get it set up is it simple to boot up and get into a game? The reason she was using GW for so long was that it was really easy to use for her.

You have to install games through cia files or also you can use Freeshop to download them directly from the console

You can update freely and play online (while you dont use something like cheats, ilegal pokemon, playing leaked games online before reléase, etc)

Question regarding theme .cia:
I have created my own theme package as a .cia using howling's theme tool, i installed the package to my 3DS using FBI, accesed the themes trough the theme menu and i was able to select and use my theme. When i updated my Majora's mask game, all themes were gone. My question is: how do i make this permanent? CHMM2 sometimes boots without a theme and i hate that, so i looked for another way around.

I just purchased the N3DS $100 Black Friday bundle. It's firmware is 11.0.0. Can I softmod this for A9LH?

If you have another CFW 3DS, yes. If not, buy Legends of Exidia from the eshop, there'll be a new exploit for downgrading coming out next month.

You need to launch the sysdowngrader AGAIN from homebrew to continue with the downgrade to 9.2
What you have now is a frankenfirmware.

You didn't read the 1st time I answered.

Also, if you want to check if you have a frankenfirmware, run this program from homebrew made by @zoogie , it will show you if you have a clean 9.2 or not:

Or not.
It's funny how some (lots) of people are speculating that the exploit will be out on/after Christmas (probably after but emphasis on the "after").
And if that doesn't happen? Then what? What will people advise? Continue to NOT update because it's coming?
OR, people will finally say: do what has ALWAYS been available because it Works and is available now.

Well, I prefer to tell people that what they have NOW is "this" instead of what they'll have will be "that" (if they wait)...

Following Plailect's A9LH guide's section for downgrading a N3DS (11.0.0) via DSiWare exploit;

Section VI - Restoring the source 3DS

1. On the source 3DS, complete initial setup
2. Do one of the following (or neither if you don’t mind the source 3DS’s NNID being nonfunctional)

Do the rest of the sections and then the full guide on the target 3DS, then wait one week, then System Transfer from the target 3DS back to the source 3DS (remember you cannot transfer back from a New 3DS to an Old 3DS)

Call Nintendo and tell them you no longer have access to the device that your NNID is linked to (which is the target 3DS in this case), and would like it linked to a different device (which is the source 3DS in this case)

Can I just format the Source 3DS being that I wanted to transfer from it to the new one?

I have some new questions:

I have a banned 2DS and a frash new A9LH NEW3DS
if i make an emuNAND on the NEW3DS, unlink it from the nand, and to a sysem transfer from the 2DS to that NEW3DS emuNAND
Will my NEW3DS (sysnand) still be good and without the ban stuff?
And will my 2DS get unbanned after?

Alright, here goes nothing...
I'm the type of guy that likes save file editing (judge if you will) but I haven't really needed to edit it since last September. I've been using Browserhax to get to the homebrew menu because it was easy, but now the QR code isn't working. Is there a way I can either get it to work or find a new way to get into homebrew?

I'm on an old 3ds version 11.2.0-35U

Also I would just use ninjahax or one that uses a cartridge but I don't have very many. Only Animal Crossing New Leaf and Pokemon X. Also if this will work I do have an R4 card, but it doesn't play 3DS games, only ds games.

Alrighty, I have legit Pokemon Y/Sun/Moon cartridges that I want to backup to .3DZ files (so they retain their own private header/online information and I don't have to inject any fake stuff) How would I go about doing this now that I am using Luma instead of a Gateway for the initial boot? Basically I want to dump the cartridge to a 3DZ format instead of a CIA while retaining all of it's private header/online format stuff. Anyone able to help?

Worth noting, I am still using a gateway payload to boot into Gateway mode so I will be able to utilize the .3DZ format and it is my preferred format. However I am not able to load the Gateway menu like before to dump cartridges.

I've been trying to figure this out for a while and I have no luck no matter what I do.

So I have a N3DS running ARM9+Luma3ds and I've been trying to do gain access to Decrypt9. The only way for me to do that is to run it as a payload. However, NOTHING as a payload works and I have no idea why. One thing I think I should note is that in the Luma configuration, choices such as "Autoboot SysNAND" aren't there. I'm clueless as to what I should do and I would really appreciate help.

Take a picture of what shows up when you press and hold Select when you boot your system.
