Honestly is it that big a deal? Anyone with CFW can still install and play games. People calling their console a brick are overreacting. The 3DS has like another 5 months before it's irrelevant with the Switch anyway.

is a problem for people who actually bought stuff, not the people who are just freaking pirates

Makes me wonder if it'll even be noticeable once the servers go down. Will there be any client-side changes that could tip someone off?

Probably a flat out dumb question, but does this affect system updates by chance? I plan to purchase a new 3DS for 100 next friday, but I'd like to know if my old one is pretty much trashed.

To me is more the feeling of being banned than the ban itself. I almost never play online with my friends, everyone lives close and can see each other and play locally.
This restrict some things (game updates only by .cia, system updates only with homebrew, etc) and this is also an annoyance, but I also believe that most people are overreacting.
In the end, Nintendo did nothing wrong like some are trying to imply. We did.

3DS servers are likely to last until well into 2018. If not longer. Nintendo's confirmed they'll be supporting the system with new games till well in 2017. Possibly even longer. And then there's third party games afterwards. Servers usually don't go down til long after first party support is gone.

thing is they should only ban online in the game not the eshop thats wrong you can't redownload any of your purchased games i hope they atleast unban every one when the games out and its just to stop people from palying online early

A complete ban from everything does seem a bit disproportionate though.
You trespassed somewhere, now you can't enter the entire country anymore while having no more access to all your stuff.

well nintedo gonna get alot of complaints from every one so they might just end up unbaning people when it comes out to stop that

I went online with a pirated version of Pokemon Moon and got banned, fuck you, bitch and moan.

I can't redownload any of my purchased games because I went online with a pirated version of Pokemon Moon and got banned, I guess I violated your terms of service. Fuck you, bitch and moan.
