No. When you are on 3.55 and you install a CFW part of that CFW is put on your NOR/NAND as well as your HDD. If you try to install CFW on 3.55+ and part of OFW is on the NOR/NAND it won't work. Also about CFW apps you need the keys to run unsigned apps. Currently developers do not have the keys. If we did CFW wouldn't be a problem on 3.55+

Interesting.

How are you supposed to complete steps 5 and 6 if your game has no patch? Is every game supposed to have a patch (with an eboot.bin), because the only eboot.bin the game has is from the original dump. Do you use that?

According to these messages it's not working without a game with update : "this is NOT working if the game has no update!!! (EBOOT.BIN has to come from the update...)"

"Yeah it needs update as they are signed PSN

Same problem with ODE updated games work better

But lucky for us most games get update or dlc"

So you need a game with update (I don't know if you can extract the eboot.bin from dlc and if it works ^^)

oh no...! this only works for games with an update?

no exceptions? no way we can make a fake update, but simply with the original eboot or something?
i really want to play katamari forever, but i'm pretty sure it has no update.

that is really annoying.

we need an update if the game is from an iso?
but if the game is from psn, we don't need an update?

This is awesome - I've been watching PS3 scene for a while since I wasn't on a golden version. I haven't updated it in a while so I'm probably below 4.7, and I see this awesome thread @Zero72463 made with links to OFW's. So if I download 4.70, can I just install it to the system via USB drive?

I readed it, and i still don't get it at all.

The logic here is to do a backup (backup of what?), inject games to the backup and then restore the backup, right?

Backup of your entire system. Also yes.

i believe the method they are using to tranfer games is via cfw to ofw, or maybe it really only works on 4.70 and completely nothing above it, it just feels like people are just toying with us

From previous pages. I don't think CFW is involved if you can backup system through OFW.

install as many games as you want on a machine with custom firmware, then back it up, and transfer the backup to another machine with official firmware, it's the only way still not patched by sony

Direct download [OFW] PS3 games via P2P and simply share the dumps

Discussion of the dumping programs for games relevant topics: Starting backups on PS3 OFW 4.70 - tool for injection PS3 games console OFW

1. Insert the flash drive in the PS3 or an external HDD, formatted in FAT32.
2. Go to "System Settings> Backup Utility" and create a backup copy.
3. To add a game to use the backup TrueAncestor BACKUP Injector v1.70.
4. Drag a folder with numbers "PS3 \ EXPORT \ BACKUP \ 000000000000" in the folder "TrueAncestor_BACKUP_Injector_v1.70 \ backup".
5. Folders with the unpacked game move to folder "TrueAncestor_BACKUP_Injector_v1.70 \ game".
  • [NPXX00000] - The game itself
  • [BLXX00000] - Patch
6. Run injector.exe and Recompiling BACKUP game items carry a "1", "3", "S".
7. Restoring a backup to the PS3.

This all looks like through OFW. You can inject backups from P2P games into your PS3 Backup and then restore back to PS3. Looks very simple.

why should I believe it? none of the games i've tried so far worked, i haven't seen any significant proof that it actually works, but I see you have good faith, go on believing on them but don't expect me to do so...!

i can vouch that back in the day when pexploit was a thing, it was too much of a pain in the ass to do. yeah you got free games, but as the system dump got bigger and bigger, it became exponentially cumbersome.

not worth it imo

Is the thread title actually correct in saying 4.7X? I'm on 4.78, but I was under the assumption that this exploit was patched after 4.70, and nothing higher will work.

Can anyone confirm if it will work on 4.78?

There is a compatibility list on the Russian site that says some games work on 4.80 and some work on 4.76, but I'm on 4.76 and can't get the game "Afro Samurai" to work. I also give up trying this method until someone can come up with a working guide.
