Low OS RAM usage doesn't necessarily mean no features.

If the features don't always run in the background, then there's no problem.

I know, but he is worried it isn't enough features or the features wouldn't be good enough. That's what I don't care about.

Beside downloading and recording I cannot really think of any other. Android can manage those with 2gb if not less.

i have similair news, there is gold inside the device!
Actually it does. Gold is known to use in higher tier eletronics such as pcie on gpu end. Though there is one metal that make some of the strongest acid looks like total joke.

Isn't 4 GB..... bad...?
In comparison lpddr3 for arm is at most 3GB if not less.

I don't know if this is a rumor or not.
But if this is true xbox one has double the amount of ram when compared to switch.
2*4=8gb ram.

Don't compare the switch specification to the wii u. Compare the switch to the latest technology.

Yeah, but why should I compare a handheld (technically) to a high-end home console with higher price?

Really a good answer. But your answer cannot be accepted by the game companies for eg. ea sports. They closed the production of fifa for the whole nintendo consoles because of the less specs.

Pro tip: more RAM doesn't automatically make your system better. Throwing more RAM into a machine that is bottlenecked elsewhere is pretty much just throwing away money to appease the people who care how consoles look on paper rather than their actual capabilities.

Confucius: "It's wise to avoid machines under 1.21 jigawatts of power..."
"...especially those that remind you of the Atari Lynx (with portability to match)..."

To those who was hoping a 8GB unit, majority of top cpus like snapdragon 820 cannot hit that range.

yer still technically doing that by comparing it to the wii u, a wii u is a home console, not a portable console... the closest you can compare it with is the 3ds and the vita

or the nvidia shield tablet, open pandora or etc.

SNES, N64 and GameCube were powerful consoles but Nintendo nowadays prefers to release weaker consoles and with little to no third party support. We're yet to see if the NS will actually have that solid third party support.

I remember how the Wii U was supposed to have a solid third party support and it went down the toilet.

Something to take into account is that raw processing/capacity isn't everything. Technological advances can help in such situations. For instance, ASTC (invented by ARM) and various other texture compression formats are support by the Tegra line, meant to reduce loading times and memory footprints, not to mention improving performance, battery life, and reduces heat of the device, requiring less bandwidth while consuming less energy. Because the Switch doesn't have to worry about compatibility with other devices (like all these various Android devices and whatnot), optimizations can be made specifically for its own benefit and none other.

I mean, when people heard that the Switch may only support 32GB carts, they had second thoughts because many games on PS4/XB1 certainly extend past that. What doesn't seem to be acknowledged is what is taking up all that space and what can be done about that. We've already looked at textures. Let's look at FMVs now. On PS4/XB1, they support AVC/h264, so videos will be in that format, but what is understood for Tegra X1 and later, they support HEVC/h265, which grants AVC quality at roughly half the bitrate. 30GB of video in a PS4/XB1 game? Effectively becomes about 15GB for Switch.
