sorry if this is in the wrong place let me know ill delete it if need be

so im trying to help a friend mod his 2ds with the new methods and i think i might have bricked the 2ds

so i got up to here: https://plailect.github.io/Guide/installing-arm9loaderhax

when i did i got the glitched screen

so i when to the link under that and it said
  • Press (Select) and arm9loaderhax will be installed
so i did
now it turned off and i cant seems to get it back on... with out the SD card in it it turns the power light on and then right back off with the SD card in it the light goes on and then nothing else happens till i forcefully turn it off by holding the power button for like 10 seconds

please help if you can!

You did everything correctly. At that point in the guide, you're still on 2.1 system firmware, but arm9loaderhax can't load 2.1 firmware. Continue the guide normally. You'll get to a point where you will restore a previous NAND backup to boot normally again.

What happens if you press and hold start and press power?

when the SD card is in the 2ds its turns the power light on and stays on but nothing else

when the SD card isnt in the 2ds the power light turns on and then turns off and nothing else happens

So when sd card is in 3ds and you press start and hold while pressing power it just stays on?

Hmm, try this: rename the file start_hourglass9.bin from sd:/luma/payloads to arm9loaderhax.bin and place on root of sd card, then boot

Replace the old one. You are replacing luma essentially to force boot the 2ds into hourglass9 and restore the 9.2 NAND. If it boots into it you are good, the fat the 3ds shuts off immediately without sd tells me A9LH is installed

Can you try this payload: https://mega.nz/#!YxMiGDhB!VZLv2XPSqFFzEhf4kGMXAdQtSpIGvnp2vu2W1j4o7cc/

It's from troubleshoot of guide under the following

Black screen on SysNAND boot after installing arm9loaderhax
6. Try this test payload .
  1. Rename /arm9loaderhax.bin, if it exists, to something else.
  2. Place the arm9loaderhax.bin from the archive linked above in your SD root.
  3. Insert your SD card into your 3DS and power on.
  4. Press (A). Your 3DS should power off; this means arm9loaderhax is working and something else is broken; your device is not bricked.

welp it looks like its bricked since the (A) button didn't do anything...

but just to double check... should i have my NANDmin.bin file on the root currently while do this test?

also should i have the start_Hourglass9.bin in the luma/payloads folder?

oh and when installing the arm9loaderhax is when this whole brick happened so i hadn't installed arm9 yet as far as i know

after i typed in the link from the original post and pressed (Select) to install arm9loaderhax it turned off and now its like this currently...

does that mean something is wrong with my arm9loaderhax?

NANDmin.bin should be in sd:/files9 folder

Yes start_hourglass9.bin should be in sd:/luma/payloads

Ideally what should happen is if you used the latest luma arm9loaderhax.bin in the root of your sd card from this link: https://github.com/AuroraWright/Luma3DS/releases

You should be able to hold start and press power and get into the hourglass9 menu to restore a NAND backup. However it seems your console can't boot payloads.

Just to burn all possiblilities download luma from link place on root of sd card, then verify start_hourglass9.bin is in sd:/luma/payloads, then try start + power button.

If this doesn't work, then you can burn through the remainder of the suggestions here: https://plailect.github.io/Guide/troubleshooting#ts_browser

Look for section Black screen on SysNAND boot after installing arm9loaderhax

Basically if all this fails then A9LH failed to install and bricked the console, so it's time to start thinking of using hardmode9.

that didnt work either... whats "hardmode9"? is it a hard mod not software base?

Whoops! Sorry it's my nickname for hardmod, yes you will need to hardmod the device and flash the NANDmin.bin back into the console. Make sure you back this up to multiple places before messing with it as it is the only thing that can save the console at this point.

Here is a tutorial on setting up the hardmod: https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutorial-noob-friendly-nand-dumping-2ds-3ds-3ds-xl-n3ds-n3ds-xl.414498/

You don't need to worry about reading the nand with the hardmod as that is corrupted, you will just use the NANDmin.bin you have as your base to re flash to the console.

If you don't have soldering experience, then it's a shame because it will prob cost upwards of $60 to pay someone for a hardmod (almost the price of a new 2DS!!!), but if you go this route here is a link of good ppl that do this by having the console shipped to them: https://gbatemp.net/threads/list-of-hardmod-installers-by-region.414224/

Sorry this happened, it's rare for A9LH to fail installing but there have been some cases of these bricks. Best of luck, hopefully your friend won't be too upset.

So you have menuhax and an emunand? Yes you will use the same guide, but there is an extra section under

Section III - Configuring Luma3DS

5. If, before following this guide, you already had an EmuNAND setup and would like to move the contents of your previous EmuNAND to your new SysNAND CFW, now is the time to follow Move EmuNAND.

The exact same thing happened to one of my own 2ds installations. I was still able to load decrypt9, hourglass, etc at bootime. Have you checked if you can load hourglass or not? Maybe you can return to stock 9.2 and start over again.

I just been playing offline, and they give you a few bots here n there on your team to help battle. I don't think it's as funny as the other games tho, more battle oriented than humor, which kinda sucks, but I'm still early in it

@BigOnYa, doesnt the game have a campaign mode?
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Yea, and co-op, but you can also start a pvp session and battle just with friends. You get special skill cards (powers) the more you play. And higher value cards, but you can only enable so many cards at a time.

How much did a 1965 color TV cost?

For example, a 21-inch (diagonal) GE color television in 1965 had an advertised price of $499, which is equal to $4,724 in today's dollars, according to the federal government's inflation calculator.
