Why is the PPG avatars a meme?

It has to do with the PPG campaign right now... something about everybody has a "pow" or ability that helps them "save the day." These PowerPuff Girls are like zombies to me, the only thing they are good for is head shot fodder. Some shows are laid to rest properly and do not need unnaturally recreated.
