Yay, I'm so glad this is out!!! I went down to my local video game store yesterday, but they didn't have it yet... but I called them today, and it came in! So I picked up a copy!

But eww I don't like the new menu colour scheme. The original white scheme was so much nicer. More minimal or pure, if you will. Why did the localization team think they had to go and change an already perfect game... They also flipped the order of the first and second level schemes.

At anyrate, gameplay is the same. I will have to try this on WiFi to see if the general American populace is as good as the crazy Japanese folks I got destroyed by on Panel de Pon DS.

is it me or is the game easy as heck? or am i doing something wrong?

Thou8ght the same when I was playing PaneldePon. Or I was only playing the wrong Gamemode?

You two should play each other and tell us who wins.

Come on guys. Try playing Garbage Mode against the CPU on Hard Level 10. Then come back to us.
The first time I played Panel de Pon DS, I thought it was easy compared to Tetris Attack on the SNES. For me, the reason was because Panel de Pon DS and Planet Puzzle League default to easy mode - which is really very slow. So, yah, definitely ramp it up to hard mode, or at least normal, before you throw this game out the window. Also, VS COM or VS on Wifi is where the game gets more difficult. I haven't tried Planet Puzzle League WiFi yet, but I know there are a lot of good players on Panel de Pon DS Wifi. Maybe try there if you're looking for a good challenge. Otherwise, versus computer on hard mode is a good place to start as Sonicandtails recommends - I wholeheartedly second this suggestion.

I agree... The presentation/music/style of PPL is great but the core game play is much more boring and monotonous than say, metoes

The music ... it's awful. And you can't turn it off. Crap.

You have no taste AT ALL then.

I only gave this game about 20-30 minutes, and mostly in Simple Puzzle mode (I think that's whats it's called) but this looks like one of the best games I've played in years. From what I played, this game has quality unseen on the DS (I can't even begin to count the number of disappointing games I've played on the DS in the last 2 years)

This game is one of the best DS puzzle games out there, right next to meteos. If they blended this and meteos together I think we'd have the ultimate handheld puzzle game.

The music is amazing, I love it

The only thing I don't like is the green menu.....the japanese version had a much classier white menu. Some unlockables like menu skins and such would be nice.

There are probably different kinds of music for different modes. I tried the "endless" and "puzzle" mode and was plagued with a very repetitive techno tune. I heard this while playing the "endless" mode. I thought this repetitive techno tune would never end.

It probably never would, either - had I not turned my DS off. (Or died)

Back to your point though; are you saying that anyone who does not like to hear repetitive techno music while solving puzzles have no taste at all whatsoever? Your way of at reasoning offered me some nostalgia, and took me back to when I was somewhere around 10 years old. Good old days, yes.

I like clamps, by the way. Anyone that doesn't have no taste AT ALL. You know, cause they taste good and all that.

Like the game by the way. BUT WHY OH WHY WON'T YOU LET ME TURN OFF THE MUSIC!?

A lot of people seem to be skeptical about why so many of us are excited about this game. But I think, you really have to try the versus mode. To me, that's where the game really shines. The endless mode or puzzle modes aren't as active, in my opinion. Of course, if you like solving puzzles, then the puzzle mode would be good fun too.

What I like about this game so much is that in VS mode, it's a puzzle game that requires quick action and thinking. At least, if you want to win against other people. Pulling off 10+ chain reactions requires some amount of skill, and it gives you a good feeling whenever you manage to pull it off.

It's not really like "connect four," because, you can't just sit there and think. If you do, your opponent will drop so many garbage blocks on you that you'll be helpless. Also, if you keep on just matching up blocks like you would in Bejeweled, so to speak, you will never win either, because you'll never drop any garbage (or sizable garbage) on your opponent. Attacking your opponent by clearing six or even ten panels in one swap is relatively useless, as the garbage it creates is tiny compared to the garbage that a 15x chain would produce, for example.
