Sorry but if your using the v1.0 software then your lying as I tried Mario Kart and Metroid several times and none worked with download play. The games themselves worked just fine, but if you try and play them with 1 DS with the G6 Real (and original firmware) and another DS with NO game, mod carts, or flashed firmware whatsoever, the DS with nothing in it will not download and play Mario Kart or Metroid.

Firmware 1.0

One Nintendo DS with G6 DS Real and one Nintendo DS with flashme.
Download play works fine with Mario Kart and Metroid.

Tried by myself.

I don't know if it works with no flashed firmware.
Probably not.

Sorry _Pie_ you should never test with a flashed DS as you'll never know what works right. As they said it doesn't work, I can confirm as I also tested those games and found them to not work. I suggest you go back through with a non-flashed DS and update your results, as most users don't have a flashed DS. My review is going to be very detailed and include every feature, except the PDA since its not yet released (maybe if they do get it out by then).

But as many have said the G6DS Real is not anything spectacular. I mean the device casing is just plain horrid! Why have the Actel chip sticking through the case under the sticker? Why have the PCB screwed in if they wanted to make it "easy to open" with interchangeable color cases? And the device was arrived almost crushed (and from DeVs images his was also), which means the device would never stand up to bad shipping conditions. I suggest the G6 team takes this time to make a few revisions before the final release, although I think this is an afterthought. Perhaps the M3DS Real will kick ass! What sizes did you guys get on the review sample? I think most got the 1GB model, although the GBAtemp team got two!

True, download play doesn't work if you have 2, or more, DS with different firwmare.

There is a new firmware out for the G6 Real. I tested it and it does not fix any of the issues such as download play not working for certain games, touch calibration being off, ect. There is no change log and I have not received an email from the G6/M3 team so im not sure what is diffrent in this new v1.2 update.

There is a new update out for the G6 Real (2.0). There is no change log with it though through testing I can say it fixed download play for Mario Kart but not Mario Hoops or Metorid. Also the OS is faster and Ultimate Spider-man is working perfectly now.

Yeah it works great but it's the obvious Ds factor you loose from it it's not like playing atari games on atari because Nintendo actually use to give a reason to buy their hardware

Can't be that far off from it not like ds requires super hardware
  • HiradeGirl @ HiradeGirl:
@K3Nv2 I did that using Citra for 3DS games. Bottom screen was my smartphone. Until I got the touch screen.
