So currently you are on 10.3.0-6U and you do have access to homebrew.

Did you already tried downgrading with Decrypt9 via 9.2 ctrtransfer?
Ctrtransfers are pre made dowgrade packages and are currently the easiest and safest way to downgrade.

You can follow this guide but instead of a 2.1 ctrtransfer pack you must find a 9.2 ctrtransfer pack:
https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/Part-2-(2.1.0-ctrtransfer)
and
https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/9.2.0-ctrtransfer

This is a part of the A9hl guide but you only need to do the downgrade part, except if you want A9HL.

Just to avoid double work, you don't need to downgrade to 2.1 first in order to go to 9.2,
just do it once with 9.2.
He's been having trouble launching Homebrew in anyway so, it's difficult for him to do as you're saying.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

@dradonhunter11 option is viable IF you can launch the sysupdater. But if you launch it you can directly downgrade.

In a last resort, just update with system settings (you'll be in 11.0.0-33) and then DSiware Downgrade.
(I know, maybe you were avoiding this altogether)

I CAN launch sysUpdater (ninja edited it to my last post), it just failes 'to get the CIA info'. Maybe a update would work better?

Problem with DSiware Downgrade is that I, from my understanding, can't transfer from my hacked N3DS to O3DS.

Yep, no DSiware downgrade from N3ds to O3ds.

If you can launch sysUpdater, then grab the 10.4.0-29 for you region and console from that ISO site and update to see if it solves the hiccups.

I sorry, I think I misunderstood then.

@Gungerino:

My apologies but I think you can't do what I told you before then.

If you still having problems with sysupdater, a properly fix is do a factory reset.
But before doing the factory reset, do a nand backup. Note that you temporary lose all your data,
after you set up A9HL you can install your nand back (while keeping a9hl).

There's somewhere a thread on here about sysupdater with many common problems.

If you are in a situation that Decrypt9 works:
It doesn't matter on which firmware you're on then, just downgrade directly with the ctrtransfer pack to 2.1 (part 2)
Once you are on 2.1, the guide really begins (part 3).

Sorry, you can't do a NAND backup above 9.2 with no CFW or hardmod or DSiWareHax :-)

can't find the 10.4.0-29U... but found the 10.3.0-28U. I'm thinking of installing this first.
Would 10.3.0-6U to 10.3.0-28U be considered 'update' in sysUpdater?

Or would you recommend that I ask for 10.4.0-29U, as this is then clearly an update?

I believe it will update it just the same (might even only update the files that have a version bigger than the ones installed, which is what's intended).

Just make sure it's the correct ones for you, ;)

[EDIT]
If you need the 10.4.0-29U, you can find it on that chaos site.

Wow, thanks for all your support!

@Clydefrosch

I DID believe in it… otherwise I wouldn’t have done it for 4 hours :D

But I’ll keep that in mind, to try it with another SD card!

@The Real Jdbye and @Urbanshadow

I tried it a couple of times, but I still really think it’s because of the dummy browser.

Or was only the “this version is not supported …” message a dummy browser indicator?

It always worked on the first try on my N3DS on 9.6.

Will keep trying tonight again!

@dradonhunter11

Ok, that would mean I should look on - that ISO site (?)- for a 10.3.0-28U and do the ‘updade’ instead of the ‘downgrade’

@JordenNixNix

That sounds promising. Just to make sure I understood all correct:

1. I’ll take the 9.2 ctrtransfer pack from https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/9.2.0-ctrtransfer

2. Follow this https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/Part-2-(2.1.0-ctrtransfer) with the pack from step 1 and downgrade from 10.3.0-6U to 9.2? After that, I would follow Plailects guide as normal? Just wondering why the guide uses sysDowngrader to downgrade to 9.2,

I really though that is the only way?

yes I wanted to install A9LH.

//edit: I also tried the sysUpdater 0.4.2b for 2 hours yesterday:
'Failed to get CIA file info!'

checked the MD5 hash of the downgrade package first and also used the check function from SafeSysUpdater.
yeah, get full 10.3 from that iso site then upgrade. After upgrading just follow the guide. (I got same issue with a 10.3.0-14 3ds, full update fixed)

It will upgrade/downgrade any titles to match the set. This includes browser.

As said try updatig to a complete 10.3, by the way if you have Ocarina of Time 3DHax why don"t you try installing MenuHax from it and then try to use SysUpdater from MenuHax to update to 10.3.0-28X and then downgrade after you have a complete 10.3 Firmware.

As a little update:

- tried to install the full version of 10.3.0-28U through sysUpdater for ~3 hours = 'Failed to get CIA file info!'
- also tried all 10.3.0-xU versions on sploit_installer - OOT3Dhax, but cant start HBL with any of the 10.3.x versions. HBL stucks on:
"*hax 2.7 gamma
2016-07-17 23:16:52
smealum.github.io/ninjhax2/

The homemenu is ready" and the the buttom screen glitches.

- OOT3Dhax works with 10.4.x and 10.5.x haven't tested further.

Are your title CIAs definitely in an "updates" folder on the root?

I just took a quick/dirty picture this morning. The CIA folder was added to test NASA yesterday, what I also can't get to boot. (Not even with deleting the 'Connection Settings').
Additinoally I tested the emulators from retroarch, which also all stuck in a yellow screen on boot.

That is what happens when I use the sploit_installer for OOT3D with 10.3.0-xU version

I believe your missing the ropbin for the HBL on SD root.

Wait a sec...

[EDIT]
Damn, Smealum's options don't get a old_10.3.0-6 (minimum is x.x.x-7 and UP)

Let's try to find which cia is for the browser xx-28 and only try to install it alone, ;)

P.S:
This is beeing the most exciting thread I've in a long time.
[/EDIT]

[EDIT=2]
After searching 3dbrew, the CIA for the U version Browser is "0004003000009402.cia"

Delete ALL the .cia from the "updates" folder from SD root except the one above (make sure you have the update FW for your region).

Run sysupdater and see if it updates the Browser.

Sorry for make you a guinea pig but we're all learning something here, :D
