Thanks. So, I continue to read the guide and it said before tried to downgrading, I need to do a system format first. How to do this and did I do the system format after homebrew launcher of step 1 or before it? Sorry if this is sound so dumb, I don't want to bricked my n3ds.

edit: Double post, please delete.

Also I just got a 2nd 3ds, but its the new 3ds , was wondering what flashcarts are compatible with it if anyone could tell me, its came with 10.7.0
If you want to play DS games only, R4 Gold 3DS is recommended and not too expensive. If you want to play 3DS, GBA, SNES, etc games, then you want CFW. Follow this guide: https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/

You need the homebrew launcher to get into homebrew, so either way, it will be before :-)

Section III - Launching Decrypt9
  1. Check the system settings, you should be on 9.2.0
  2. Launch the Homebrew Launcher using the entrypoint of your choice (such as menuhax)
  3. Open Decrypt9WIP (This can sometimes take a few tries)
    • If you cannot launch Decrypt9WIP after many tries, you most likely have a partial downgrade and should redo Section II

For section III of downgrading, it said in Step 2 "Launch the Homebrew Launcher using the entrypoint of your choice (such as menuhax)" what is this entrypoint and what is menuhax? I don't remember this being mentioned in previous step and sections.

Read the homebrew section again. Exploit will be either an exploit game or browserhax.

I am up to section 4 of this guide https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/Part-3-(arm9loaderhax)

But now after holding select and setting the options for luma3ds i got an error about old unsupported NAND, it says in the guide that is normal, ok. But I cant continue with the guide cause thats all i get , when it tells me to hold start to go into Hourglass9 i just get the same error. How to fix? Thanks

If hourglass9 isn't launching it means you never set it up.

I guess I'll try asking one more time.

I think I may have made a big boo-boo somewhere along the way. I (finally) upgraded to the latest Luma w/arm9loaderhax and everything was where it was supposed to be but I kept getting the 022-2634 error when trying to access the eShop, I googled around it said format then restore (I used the same emuNAND_original.bin from section IV of part 5) and after restoring I get the error again, I checked it after formatting but before restoring and it worked fine. And now all my games are missing even though they were there when I used this exact emuNAND before, for the record the file system and folders for it are setup how they were it's just all the games have gone missing.

Is there anyway to fix both the 022-2634 eShop error and the missing games problem I'm having? Knowing me it's something really simple and obvious that I'm missing, or I'm screwed.

Yes I know, but it mention menuhax, what is that? Does Launch the Homeberw Launcher meant i need to push down d-pad arrow while press power button?
Yes. (if you have menuhax installed from the previous instructions)

I don't know what the problem is, but a workaround can be to backup all your saves using JKSM, and reinstall all your games then inject the saves back.

So in step 2 I should took the sd card out to copy the ctrtransfer bin, then reinsert it again. My question is, should I shut down the 3ds first before took the sd card and boot it up again to decrypt9 after I reinsert the SD?

Doesn't matter as long as you can get into decrypt9 after copying over the files.

And by the way does the: https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/Homebrew-Launcher-(Browser) and https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/Part-3-(arm9loaderhax) have the same "The Homebrew Starter Kit"?

Hi, Quick noob question.
I just got my n3dsxl and intend to follow Plailect's guide. But what size of SD card is recommended? I read that a size of 128gb or higher results in a slower device. The homebrew ect go on the sd card right?

Since I believe you are about to have arm9loaderhax, you should download the .cia versions of FBI, and Luma Updater, though I recommend Star Updater over Luma Updater. Also, yes both of them have the same homebrew starter kit.

What the pros of Star Updater and the cons of Luma updater?

Between 8 and 32GB is comfortable, 4GB can be done, 64+GB requires the formatting and is a little slower. 2GB can result in you getting stuck (you can't have an emuNAND and make a backup at the same time).

Hi guys. A few days ago this tutorial came out https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki and i was wondering what is it for. Downgrading? installing CIAs? im on OFW 11 on a new 3ds XL
It is for downgrading and setting up cfw. You are on 11.0 so you need to either get a hardmod, or find someone else who has a 3ds that has cfw in order to downgrade.

I'm at the (almost) last hurdle in setting up my N3DS with A9LH. I'm at the bit where I press start to boot to Hourglass9 to dump the hs.app but when I do that, I get a slot0x25keyx not set up, health&safety dump failed message. I do have the slot0x25keyx file but nowhere in the guide did it tell me to download it so I'm wondering if I should use my instinct and go ahead and download that file and use it or if I have actually goofed up somewhere along the guide?
