By the way, I hope you guys making a Golden undub realize that you also need to replace the .pac files in the model directory with the JP ones too, because those have in-battle voice clips

this is incredible! unfortunately i can't really justify playing p4g again.
there are two games i have in mind that have some 'dlc' consumable items, that will easily be able to be save edited to make life easier, i'm exicted to look and happy to read the saves are simply unencrypted, i hope most devs didn't add anything extra to the mix though to make it difficult.
(i'm thinking about fan damacies for katamari and exp boost items for ps nova)

https://github.com/s1cp/VitaGuide/wiki

Here's what I did.

I wrote this guide in a hurry, I'll update it as soon as I can.
Thanks for the tutorial... I got my ps3 cfw banned a few years ago. I lost about $2600 worth of psn bought games. 20 In all for the vita. Now I have a back up of my games but now ofcourse I can't play them since I need to activate a ps vita. Anyways. Im hoping some day I/we could play our psn games bought from different regions/banned again.

Nice, glad to know that not using compression makes it work, but the filesize must be hell to transfer over FTP (almost 3 GB whereas compressed correctly, it's about 1 GB)

I think you need to generate a CSV and use cpkmakec.exe (commandline, not the GUI version of the program) with it to generate the new CPK.
http://www.mediafire.com/download/uhp551r524pznoc/data.csv
Try this.
Thank you so much for this tip. The compressed version now works fine. I only have to replace the .pac files now.

I'll also try zeroing the file in the app folder to see if it frees up some space.

I successfully replaced the CPK with a repacked one, no crashes, no errors!
BEST OF ALL: It's only 1.8 GB, the original size of the data.cpk.

If anyone is interested, I'll be uploading a guide tomorrow on how I did this.

Hey tuxdude! I've dumped PSO2VITA, and extracted the CPK, but it looks like the files are incompatible with the tools we use at the moment. We're checking to see if we can adopt them and work with it.
Oof, can't say I didn't expect that. Well at least your job is a bit easier since you already have the english translation so you just need to somehow transplant that from point A to point B.
Knowing sega though it probably isn't going to be that easy....

Hello. I am indeed of help. Looking through this forum I see that this method doesn't seem to work with every cartridge & I just want to confirm if I'm shit out of luck.

The only game modding I'm interested in are English patches for visual novels. 18+ patches too.

Anyways the game I was trying to mod was Fate/Hollow Ataraxia. My problem is the game REFUSES to start as molecular shell. If I copy the the files within the ux0:app/MLCL00001 folder into the ux0:app/[TITLEID] (ux0:app/PCSG00386) the game will become "corrupted". The little cartridge icon in the top right becomes a default gray color and I can't load the game. Says the game is corrupted. Also same thing for the near manual pop up. If I eject/reinject then it'll say "Game cannot be installed. Finally it'll say the usual "Please insert a vita cartridge that contains this application". If I simply dump the entire MLCL00001 folder into the ux0:app/PCSGblahblah folder then the near manual pop up will load just fine and the game will launch normally. What do if can do?

Haven't tested Fate/Stay Night yet but I'm just going to assume its the same story with this. Both games say "Preparing to launch game" whenever you boot them by the way if that answers anything. They don't close out other applications though. Finally I cam clearly using the cartridge and not a digital copy. Thanks in advance

This idea has probably been brought up already, but how possible is it that one could use the eboot.bin for a demo of a game to play the full game? Needless to say, you'd take the psarc/data files from the main game and place them in the patch folder or the main game folder, whichever works. Assuming the demo and actual game have the same passkey, one could play it
for free

So I'm looking through the gro0: directory via filezilla... Are we able to dump ALL files from the cartridges? Because there is no sce_pfs folder present on my game. I even tried manually typing the path and no dice...

What I want to do is dump the game files and just install them as digital like Freakler had done in the ps guide on hackinformer. Or does this still require inserting the cartridge everytime you power off(not a big deal) Any thoughts?

That's really strange and makes no sense.
But just replacing "sound" did leave me with English pre-attack cries, so I believe it.

We need homebrew software that can work on Linux, Apple, and Windows os in order to have all of this automated, mainly because this shit is fucking tedious as all hell.

The most likely technical reason I can imagine is that combining sounds and models for characters into one file makes it faster to load in enemies.
That might make sense, since enemies don't have alternate cries, all-out attacks, duo attacks, etc...
All of those are changed with sound, only the standard attack cries aren't.

Just trying to run Near normally first, getting an error, closing it then try from the browser again worked for me when I got that error.

EDIT: use gro0 for cart.

Now I get c1-2755-9. I opened near normally with an untouched app.db then started the whole process from the beginning and now I get this error. Any help is appreciated thnx.

Edit: btw according to the guide "On scheme, type ux0 if you're dumping a digital game, gro0 if you're dumping a physical game." should I use gr0 or gro0? I though gro0 was a typo and used gr0 instead in the app.db
