I was following this guide- https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/DSiWare-Downgrade step by step and during the system transfer part, when RIGHT at the end 3DS #2 gave an error and 3DS #1 was already formatted upon completion. 3DS #2 was ready to finish the transfer when it restarted by saying that it needed the SD of the source 3DS containing the DSiWare title I purchased. Well, that title no longer exists. I went ahead and formatted 3DS #2 in hopes that I could just use the NNID on 3DS #1 again, however it won't let me use that one. So I figured I had to wait 7 days like the System Transfer message said. So I decided to try and put my NNID back on 3DS #1 so I could do a NAND restore and get my things back until I could attempt this transfer again, but it said that the NNID is already linked to a 3DS! I had no idea that MY NNID would be affected in this at all :'( My NNID isn't on any of the 3DSs in this project, so what the hell?! I followed the steps exactly and wasn't the least bit careless..
Do I perhaps have to wait 7 days for my account to function right again? Someone please help me out with this..

Same thing happened to me, but I did the downgrade a few days ago and recently, Plailect updated the guide to fix the issue. You were supposed to format, create a new nnid, and than buy the game. Before it was updated, it would leave your NNID on the transfered system. Now the NNID is stuck on the receiving console. You can always call Nintendo customer support and ask for them to transfer the nnid back to the system, but if it has CFW, they may be able to find out (I dont really know:D).

Ah but I just followed this guide an hour ago when this happened.. I formatted the system, created a new NNID, bought the game, put the public.sav in the right directory then system transferred.. it's just now it won't let me log back into my original NNID for whatever reason..

Just curious but why does a NNID have to be created in the first place to transfer the DSiware? Wouldn't it be much simpler to download the dsiware game with ZERO NNID? Saves the hassle of all this trouble coming about.

It will be more or minor convenient to do the System Trasfer with or without a NNID according the type of transfer you are done, but of course it will be need that only one have a NNID or no one have a NNID since if there"s two NNID"s the only way only one can be keep at the same time.

Pretty sure you need a NNID to purchase the game, and the game has to be legit; it can't be pirated.

I was getting ready to try this downgrade myself, but now I'm not so sure.

This whole thing could have been avoided if you just took out the SD card from your source system and put it in your target system. During the transfer DSiWare is temporarily transferred to the SD card, then is injected into the target DS when the SD card is inserted. It's SUPPOSED to disappear from your source DS but will come back when you restore your NAND backup, Your NNID will FOREVER be linked to the new system (which is why it's recommended to use a faux account) unless you do a reverse system transfer after 7 days or call Tendo yourself.

So did Nintendo make it that for any purchase you need a NNID now? I thought a NNID is only required for free stuff and demos?

Your NNID is probably linked to 3DS #2 now, try to log in with it on that 3DS and it should work. Then you can transfer back after the 7 days are up.

My bad, you're right. I just assumed NNID was necessary to buy stuff, since some kind of an account is needed for many digital purchases these days.
So just curious, are eshop purchases just linked to the system then? If I were to purchase something from the eshop on a new system without a NNID, then format the system, would I still be able to re-download my purchase?
Sorry to take this off-topic..

eShop purchases are linked to the legacy account of the console (how purchases where linked before NNID"s) if there isn"t a NNID linked, if you have a NNID linked they are linked to both consoles and the NNID. For what you ask, yes from Nintendo itself:
  • Nintendo eShop software licenses and funds will not be removed if an Nintendo Network ID has not been linked
You can see what is lose after a System Format here: http://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/166/~/what-is-lost-after-formatting-the-system-memory?

This whole system transfer thing is becoming way too confusing... lol, I followed the tutorial word for word. So it definitely entails that I created a new account.. but it's an account I don't intend on using again. I didn't know that the DSiWare would still be on the SD card after the 3DS was formatted. It said every file on the SD would be deleted so I kind of lost it. If this was the case then SHIT.. I really could've did this with ease.. Whatever though, next Friday I'll do the whole thing over again. What's another 5 bucks to get a 3DS hacked?
BTW, I didn't use my original NNID on either of the 3DSs during this process, so that's what boggles me about not being able to access it anymore. I WILL have it back though, even if I do have to beg Ninty.

@DrakeLyon You should be able to relink again your NNID in the System in ending, unless you delete it, if yu delete a NNID is impossible to recover it and it"s content.
Also if you transfer from an NNID system to another NNID system you can call them to fuse both contents in one a make the other NNID delete if you call Nintendo and them want to do that for you of course that for some people they have done.

I dont understand why people even bother with eshop and nnid if you have hax. In fact the whole eshop thing is a scam to me.
You should be able to just sign in to an email and have the rights to games thatre on the system that that email owns and if you sign into another email that doesnt have that game you cant use that game, kinda like what every other game company does.

I never deleted my primary NNID, it was just on the system before I formatted. I didn't transfer it either, so this is why I'm not sure what happened to it.

Have you tried signing into it on the second 3DS? If it isn't linked it will tell you, and if it is it will let you sign in. When I did the same "operation" Both of my 3DS' were using 2 separate NNID's. Mine was transferred to the other DS in the process. However, afterwards I was able to format 3DS #2 and link my friends NNID back to it by signing in. My NNID seems to be tied to his DS on the server but not on the console so it won't let me use it on mine even though a different NNID is linked to his..... I think that's dumb.

I did it really easy by having no NNID, buying the game, and transferred to the second 3DS without issues. A9LH successfully installed right now. I really don't understand why Plailect says to create a new NNID, when there's no need to.

The purchased games survive System Formats too, if you bought them without a linked NNID.

I agree, because I can't use ANY NNID on my source 3DS without either formatting or calling Nintendo. I still have Fieldrunners installed in my system memory though so I wonder if it would work again?
