i follow this guide here, transfer data and emunand , GW3D ver 11.0 to my new SD card, it work at the first time, i boot the gateway, then use FBI to install a legit CIA file of pokemon AS, then FBI freeze right when i finish, i reboot my 3ds, boot gateway again, but it didnt work, show the "Gateway" pics then black screen, try everything, re input the gateway, the SD card, didnt work. Here's what it look like when i transfer it, exact like the guide, i only forgot to adjust the partrition size at the first time.

Yesterday evening I merged my pre-A9LH data with the data I had been using since then. Everything looks alright, except for the two eShop titles I had bought. They don't appear in my menu. I understand this is because my tickets database doesn't know about them. This evening I'm going to try to put the older tickets database back, as I haven't bought anything since installing A9LH.

But if I download the eShop titles again, will it notice that they're still on the SD card (but not activated), or will it download them all over again (which would be a pain in the ass).

Hello all,

Through a lack of forward planning I may have met with a terrible fate. Hopefully someone here can suggest what I can do next, or if not, feel free to use me as a case study of "how to be a nublet". :P

Long story short, I recently sold my old 3DSXL and put the money toward a pre-owned "new" 3DS. It was on stock firmware 10.3. I wanted to have A9LH / CFW functionality, so I followed through all of Plailect's tutorial, taking all the suggested backups along the way. No errors, great guide - all went smooth. This has left me with a sysNAND-only Luma CFW at 11.0, with FBI, the Homebrew Launcher, and emuNAND9 (plus a couple other tools).

First question - should I be able to reach Gateway mode in Luma 11.0 CFW (mine doesn't - black screen after the dragon logo)?

Second question
- Assuming Gateway doesn't work in this setup, any reason I can't use emuNAND9 to flash my sysNAND back to the first backup I took at the start of Plailect's guide, and start from scratch with a new plan?

Thanks in advance for your patience, and so sorry for asking obvious questions. I've tried searching and reading various threads here to find answers for myself, but at this point, I thought it'd be better to ask before making guesses and possibly screwing myself even harder than I might already have done... :(

1) Sounds like someone didn't properly remove their EmuNAND//RedNAND with EmuNAND9, that problem is common to people who skipped doing it properly and used a third-part tool like EaseUS or any other partition manager, and didn't properly do it as instructed in the guide, which was to format using EmuNAND9. Part 5, Section V "Removing RedNAND from your SD." - Since seeing the dragon logo means you are booting into GW Mode, but by default GW Mode will always look for EmuNAND and attempt to boot that first. Since your method of removing EmuNAND//RedNAND weren't done properly, GW still sees this non-existent EmuNAND and tries to boot into it, thinking it exists, when it doesn't, so you black screen. Remove it properly using EmuNAND9, and you should be good.

2) I really don't think that's your issue. If you followed the guide properly and removed EmuNAND properly per Part 5, Section V, you should be able to boot into GW Mode. I wrote a guide on it too, for those that happen to be on v2 A9LH, which the latest guide uses.

@Temptress Cerise Hoo boy. I'm a numpty. I was so close yet so far away... alright, thanks to you I have it working now, huzzah! :)

In truth I had followed the guide to the letter, including getting rid of the emuNAND by formatting with emuNAND9, but I hadn't at that point found the post you linked for the v2 A9LH...

I won't give the long boring explanation, but after the hours spent following Plailect's guide, something must have turned off in my brain. :P I had been flailing around trying random things to get GW working and as part of that flailing, I had set up an empty emu/redNAND partition without flashing something into it, exactly as you thought.

So, I just formatted my SD back to remove the emu/redNAND, copied stuff back, set up the files from your A9LH post, and now things are perfect. Many thanks again for your help. :D

I followed plailects a9lh and region change guide for my j2ds, except for deleting eshop account before starting format, because I dont have one (new 2ds). changed to eur, formatted, created new NNID, but I cant log in to eshop. 007-2001 when trying to access it, and 005-5958 if i try to update my pokemon x retail cart from home menu. I mostly just want to be able to get updates easily solely from my 2ds.

Also i'm interested in doing a system transfer from my 9.2 3ds xl to my 2ds, but I don't think its worth it because I dont want to update it. Can anyone give me any alternatives?

Hi there. I have a question regarding Luma emunand + DSTWO+ Gateway emulation (.3ds files).
I have N3DSXL with 9.0 sysnand, menuhaxx (also no A9HL) + luma emunand 11.0.0 latest.
I can access eshop, I can install CIA, i can use DSTWO+ as NDS/GBA/SNES card on Luma emunand. No problem with that.
But I would like to be able to copy some .3ds files to my flashcard's SD and try it first, before I install it as CIA.
Can I use gateway homebrew entry pont (.3dsx) to open gateway menu and play .3ds games on my DSTWO+ card, if I place Gateway Lanuncher 3.4.1 (not the latest because of bricks) on the root of my SD inside my N3DSXL? Do I even need a DSTWO+ flashcard (with Gateway plugin installed?) for this?
I read the Supercard 3ds plugin only installs MSET so I think my console is way more up to date than that... Thank you for your advices.

So, I've got a 9.2 New 3DS XL ready to hack... I'm guessing I should follow Plailect's Guide to get ARM9loaderhax installed, then install Luma CFW? Is there a recommended dummy-proof guide for the latter, or an all-in-one guide? Also, I have a Gateway which I figure I might as well keep using... How would I need to alter my setup to accommodate it along with ARM9 and Luma?

Thanks for any advice!

That very guide is going to end up on A9LH+Luma3DS on SysNAND. That guide is basically the dummy-proof guide for everything you want with Luma3DS as your CFW with A9LH. Follow it and don't skip any steps.

To get Gateway3DS working with that setup, follow this guide I wrote, after you are completely done with that guide.

So, I've got my upgrade game today (LEGO Lotr), I'm on 2.1.0-4E. In the guide (https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/9.2.0-Update-(Cart-Update)) it tells me to go into recovery and decline updates before inserting the game. Is this something I need to do? I'm scared that I'll trigger some kind of update to 11...

Yeah that's what you need to do. If you do that just make sure to decline. It should clear out any saved updates/update nag. Just to prevent it from installing the latest fw or anything.

Actually, if you are on 2.1 I think you might be able to just dump your OTP and start on step 4?

Thanks, I'll boot into recovery and then cancel to be sure. I just didn't want recovery to instantly automatically update anything to 11! =)

Yeah, the console was on 2.1.0-4 when I just bought it. I've got the OTP and now I'm about to update to 9.2 via a game and rxtools using the guide. First time doing this so very nervous... =)

Sounds like you are doing it right. And you get to skip the most scary/dangerous bits too since you are on 2.1! So no worries, shouldn't be too bad for you. Good luck.

Alright, so let's say I was updating my emuNAND to the newest firmware (at the time) and my 3DS shut off because of reasons. My emuNAND is now unlaunchable. How would I fix it? (I believe I was using Pasta, on an O3DS.)

Do you have a backup of the emunand by any chance?
