For the longest time I didn't do it because I didn't mind waiting several more seconds to load my system and I liked having emunand. After a while though the process to retrieve your otp matured and I decided to update a few days ago.
For anyone curious.. no you don't need to make a crap load of backups. The only backups you should make is of the sysnand/emunand you plan on using. Since I only ever used my emunand I only needed to back that up. The only reason you would make multiple backups is if you don't mind re-doing steps in case something fails... badly.
Also you can update/uninstall AL9H after if you ever decide to do so. Just keep in mind if you do you won't be able to install it again unless you're able to run homebrew.
