Not sure if it's something that should be said here or not but...

When trying to get my official badges that I got from the Badge Arcade copied into the custom/infinite kind (as I play the badge arcade more on my Japanese 3DS as it's where I started... and honestly would prefer to play on there than start over and collect the "over 2,000 badges" I currently have on my Japanese console again hahaha...) I noticed one of the badges was not copying over and was wondering why this was. So... after spending some time sorting the badges on my home screen in their official form and also looking at the files, finding one by one the badges on my PC... I found out that the "Splatoon" "Random" badge was not copying over and the reason for that is, is because...

Ktle0EU.jpg

The name of the actual badge is just "?" lol... which obviously can't be a file since "?" can't be used in a file name which makes so much sense, since "!" can be in file names

Either way not sure if this can be fixed or not, it probably can, but I know Japanese badges... unlike English badges, have actual "names" in their badges while English badges apparently are lazily named after the series they are from lol (found that out after taking the Ashley system files out)... which means Japanese badges may have a question mark in their name (I know I've seen a few exclamation mark names as I've been going through my Splatoon badges)

Actually, the '?' in filename is just a FAT/NTFS/Windows thing. The only real disallowed character in filenames regardless of OS is the separator (slash and backslash)

Definitely weird though. I'm reminded of Gen-III decamarks. Sounds like a bad time. (Ha. Ha. Okay, sorry.)

Windows won't let you name it ? but will display files that have ? in them.
It's not even a FS or OS issue, it's just Windows Explorer.

It won't open them, either. Try sometime. It'll error out.

The reason '?' is a reserved character is because it was used as a wildcard (like *) back with DOS.

Pretty much ^ because I remember using a certain character in the JKSM save manager on accident and... yeah, tried opening, deleting, etc to the file and it would NOT do anything, not even delete the file, until I edited the name/deleted the file in the save manager itself.

As for the badge itself, not sure if anyone understood that... I'm pretty sure because it was only named "?" and just like files on the computer, it can't be opened or anything... this program itself couldn't download it into the badge folder of my SD card (it actually just deletes the badge from my collection if trying to use this app) so as of right now, using this program doesn't allow it to get the badge into the badge folder due to the name.

However, as I stated in the one badge thread with all the "official" badges that people have gotten, I just used the custom badge maker to download the data through Devmenu and then get the badge itself from that (although doesn't look quite the same as getting the actual badge from this... but better than nothing)

I suggest opening a bug report on the repo: https://github.com/J-D-K/JKSM

Also you can use the DOS shortname to rename the file in a cmd.

Oh no, like I said I fixed it.

The character I had used appeared as a "." in the app but once it loaded up on the computer, it was a male symbol which... isn't really a symbol you'd be able to use for file names I'd say and... that was what was causing file opening/deletion problems, but once I put the SD card back in my 3DS and just deleted... either the file or just the character (forgot which one, it was over 3 weeks ago) it fixed the opening issue.

Main problem is the badge now... although again, I fixed it, kinda, by using the custom badge editor lol

That only works if the file has a shortname (and due to patents MS has, linux only makes LFNs and shortnames are null, at least here.)

Plus, you can disable shortnames on Windows as well.

I'm using the last version of this tool and when it reads all my badges it crash and the 3DS restarts.
Using the CIA. version on my N3DS with 9.2 SysNAND and 11.0 EmuNAND.

How many do you want to install and how many do you have from the arcade? Your total amount badges can never exceed 1000. GTYB dumps official badges before reimporting them (if they aren't already dumped). If you have more than 1000 badges altogether, GTYB will fail.

How can I completely delete all badges I have at the moment? I accidentally installed 1000 badges and now I want to delete them so that I can have the ones I want.

I tried this out and it does have its uses, but the lack of categories kinda turned me off of it.

The sorting feature of the badge system is super helpful, without it I'd end up surfing through an endless amount of png files. x.x

Hey everybody, I'm getting an error that says "WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE ELF. 0000004f". There's also an error after each image that says "failed to open file for writing rgb565ToPng? 0000004f". I've removed all my badges and reset my save data, but nothing seems to work. Any help?

Hi I keep getting error 79- GYTB can't read my badge pngs? (The ones that I earned). Does anybody know how to fix this?

EDIT: It works now. I saw the comment before, and it turns out the badges folder has to "exist" in the root of the sd. My badges folder existed in the GYTB Master folder I basically just copied and pasted fro the download.
