Addict here as well. Ive only done 2 myself but probably walked about 5 or 6 people through it
I've done 12~! Andddd not one step closer to owning a n3DS to add to my collection. ;_; I really need to buy one and A9LH it and just add it to my collection already.

Not sure how many people I've helped here on the forums, though don't think I've personally walked a person through the process, only helped them go in the right direction. :)

I don't get it why hasn't anyone done it yet.
While downgrading, your New3DS has a higher risk of bricking. But Its not the case for Old3DS users. Why? Why haven't you installed arm9loaderhax yet? Comments and the poll too.

Advantages of arm9loaderhax
- That thing is fast.... sysNAND boot speeds for all CFW.
- No need of an EmuNAND. Feel free to update your sysNAND.
- Unbrick sysNAND without a hardmod.
- Region Free (If using AuReiNAND)

For those of you who rely on Cart games, (Which you bought yourselves) (and you dont use CIAs) people are working on a solution for A9LH which will make your 3DS boot even without the SD Card (i.e. The CFW would be on your NAND!!)

To get help while installing a9lh, either post your query here, here or here.

I dont' get it....why do we have to force an answer on why we haven't done something?

Is it because you need a reason to do it? If so thats just pure laziness because it refuses to read up on the pro's and con's....

To be quite honest, any tutorials I have found out there are literally all over the place and almost impossible to understand what happens if you do install it due to the English the user is talking in is sort of broken, or I guess you could say the tutorial is not well written/detailed as to what compatibilites and non-compatibilites may arise. And if it's compatible with Gateway 3DS and how it affects my Gateway 3DS considering Gateway is "Coming out with A9HL support" in 4.0b. Then I also have an original 3DS at firmware 4.1 that I bought with 4.1 out of the box brand new. I fail to see where this gives me any clear advantages other than "speed" for loading, unlike the PSP where loading CFW and so on would give you a recovery menu that was impossible to have on OFW.

To be honest I just feel that the whole 3DS CFW scene is HIGHLY unorganized and the "Sticky'd" threads that "Explain" and have "FAQ's" have too many shoot offs, and so much variant and much needed merging into one thread that literally explains every. single. detail. of literally everything that is going on and what is "the latest and greatest" to do to your 3ds.

I apologize if this offends anyone but this is literally my opinion on this entire scene, compared to going through the PSP CFW scene when it had blown up forever ago and having had a PSP with CFW through the entire scene, and before it even began.

Plailect's guide is pretty all encompassing.
Link: https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki

The 9.2.0 Update part of the guide has also been nicely updated to pretty much accommodate any firmware pre 9.0-9.2.
Link: https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/9.2.0-Update

And Standard A9LH, gives you tools that could be considered "Recovery Menu" styled, like Decrypt9/Hourglass9, and EmuNAND9, and so many other tools.

GW-A9LH does not give you any of those benefits, and you are locked down to GW only. Lose your Red Card or it craps out on you? Good luck, your 3DS is pretty useless now!

But anyways, apart from A9LH-elitists and the sort, no one is really forcing anyone to make the jump to A9LH. You like what you have? Good, keep it. :)

And if anyone ever gives you a hard time for what you use, just ignore them, or close your eyes (just a joke bro)~!

Can we add the option "Everytime i try it i decide to turn back even through i have read plailect lots of times"?

Cuz that's my case u.u
If you have already invested that much time into it, you should go ahead and actually do it. It takes several hours, but don't let this stop you. Once it's done, you're happy, and it just works! :D Risks are minimal if you follow the guide to the letter.

Is there or will ever be a way to be able to launch a9lh with out an SD card? I am just thinking of the possibility of the SD card dying.

ShadowNAND and KGB are two projects that have set out to do that. Aurora Wright's latest A9LH commit seems to add this.
https://github.com/AuroraWright/arm9loaderhax/commit/c8e3af3bb293856247939b7be52338c1552d4bb9
"added a built-in mini CFW in case no payload is found which loads FIRM from CTRNAND and patches signature checks and FIRM partition writes"

So it's just a matter of time.

I have an old 3ds and n3ds running arm9loader hax, I did it for my buddy too. It just takes a long time with all the backups and restores.. hell first time took me 8 hours to get everything done.
After you do it once it's pretty easy, I didn't even need the guide the 3rd time.

I'm afraid of it. Because if I will ever brick my 3ds because of some single mistake I probably won't have the money to buy a new one - I'd probably need to wait for christmas. Also, I don't like complicated stuff or risky stuff, I'm happy with my emuNAND and I don't care if it takes 1GB of my sd-card space.

No, downgrading for OTP fucks over every time, needs a better guide or tools or both, don't care either, can do all I need on menuhax.
Better guide? Plailects guide is amazing, clear step by step instructions and constantly updated and streamlined.... i mean i dont care if you have a9lh or not but... dont blame the guide lol

Plai's guide and the tools used are the best we have at this moment. I don't see why people complain so much. Do they even try to read OTP Info section? It explains in detail why the procedure is the way it is. Basically you can't get your OTP after 2.1.0-X because it's locked during boot through CFG_SYSPROT9 which is set even earlier than the K9LH code execution.

Also, the worst part is the initial downgrade to 9.2.0 for most users since you don't have any backups. After that, you can make a NAND backup and if you brick, you can do hardmod over having to pay for a new console. So people saying it's dangerous should really think of how dangerous it was downgrade from +9.3 to 9.2 without any safety net.

EDIT: Don't forget most Menuhax users also did this downgrade initially so if they did it, they have almost no excuse to not follow the guide.

I still have CTRBootManager + menuhax + Luma3DS + sometimes Gateway.
SysNand 9.2 EmuNand 11.0
I'm happy. Never touch a running system.
Ohwell, I had a O3DSXL with A9HL but I gifted this one to a friend of mine. I don't want to be a part of all those YOU-MUST-DO-A9LH-BECAUSE-ITS-BETTER-AND-NOONE-USE-MENUHAX-Freaks.
I'm proud to stay on menuhax :grog:

Most people are fine with their boot rates. It isn't like permanent CFW or something that you install to nand and you have it forever. Once those come out the brick risk will be worth it as it will boot as fast as a vanilla 3ds. A9LH is jut a time saver for those who cant wait 20 seconds to do illegal stuff.
And after 2 months and 11 days, your wish came true. The newest A9LH fork of aurora wright has a mini luma cfw with signature patches and firm protection built into the NAND!
