The problem that I haven't found a way around yet is that booting back to the Wood R4 menu kicks you right back into the game. Not sure it's possible to get back to the menu without changing that setting.

EDIT: Spoke too soon, holding down B as you load the menu stops the autoboot from happening.

Also, just fyi, I'm on an r4ids.cn card

As far as I can tell, no.

I'm trying to see if I can trick YSMenu into playing nice with my card, will report back if I get anywhere at all

I'm just trying to get it to even load YSMenu from a forwarder, or run any ROM from YSMenu. Seems unlikely that it's going to happen, at least not from what I'm capable of doing.

I'm basically just throwing stuff at it and seeing what sticks. All I know is that it seems to be an Acekard 2i clone of some description, but what use that information is, I have no idea. My DS cart knowledge is somewhat limited

I don't know what that's meant to do, but I just still load into the normal YSMenu menu (when loading the YSMenu .nds from Wood).

When using a forwarder, I either get a pure white screen (When using the DSTT clone option), or "Could not load YSMenu.nds" when using the Original R4 option. At no point does it appear to create a YSMenu.ini.

When I try to load any ROMs via YSMenu, I get Unsupported DLDI Name, and as far as I can find, there's no way to fix that.

I mentioned before, it's an R4i Gold (r4ids.cn). Was just providing some info that might help with Wood support if that's something you choose to do, and doing some screwing around on my own to see if I can find a more hacky solution. Wasn't expecting any kind of fix from you, I read the thread

Is your kernel the one with a _DS_MENU.DAT file and a __rpg folder? 'Cause mine is.

I've managed to unbrick my R4i3D (yes, it WAS indeed bricked) and now I'm ready to try again.
I made a Pokémon Black 2 forwarder CIA.
Path is Games/POKEMONB2.nds.
Shuffled TID to a valid one.
The game's .DAT file is on SD root.
I'm using "DSTT & R4i-SDHC" pack.

So, am I good to go?

So it looks like someone else is having the same issue with the very same flashcard that I'm using. I haven't been able to try the process without the .dat files yet to see what happens. But I also have the flashcard that you yourself suggested coming in the mail and it should be here tomorrow, so if this final attempt doesn't work I'm just gonna wait to use the one you personally know works.

If you install more than 40 games, new games will just replace old ones in menu

Only card i currently own is this and doesnt seem to work with any of the work arounds like the ones apache thunder has created. so does anyone have a suggestion for the cheapest card that this forwarder will work with? or a way to get my card working. thanks

Edit: is this the correct working card and has anyone used this site before? http://www.nds-card.com/ProShow.asp?ProID=157 just wanna check before i order. also will this card with games that are dsi enhanced such as pokemon black 2?

I have an r4i3ds (http://r4i-gold.eu/) and when I try to open the cia it gives me an standard An error has occured. screen
also when I open ys menu form my r4i and open a game it gives me an UNKNOWN_DLDI_TYPE error
so it doesn't work on my r4?
