Has anyone used this unofficially with a UK EUR N3DSXL yet and had success, no issues? Gateway did email me about this private beta but none of my 3ds's are hardmodded so I could not help else I'm sure they would of done. They said they would email me again when this hard modded beta stage was done and on to the next stage. I was just wandering has anyone tried it yet with the leak and had good success or is it bricks 100% all round on an N3DSXL? I have red up and some say its all ok to use and they have had no problems, others say don't even try it until the proper release, it bricks everytime, bit of confusion. Thanks :)

It's a 100% brick on n3DS since they don't un-brick the 2.1 backup before flashing it. You can un-brick yourself (Using OTP Helper, I believe), but I still wouldn't recommend installing this now. Just wait.

Gate-fail-wait said anything about this shame of beta? They are going to repair anything?
Considering its a beta, potentially a separate code branch from there stable, I'd imagine this will all be ironed out before release. Only beta testers were supposed to even have there hands on this. It was leaked.

OK thanks for the advice. I was getting itchy fingers and I did think maybe to go for it for a minute but it does say hard modded only and that is quoted for a reason I suppose.

it bricks 100% all round with any N3DS
unlike D0K3's took whuch unbricks the nand to run on N3DS which gateway failed to copy
since it copies it without unbricking it first
GG bricked N3DS every time

Thanks I will take this as a big no no then, don't try it until a general release. I really don't know anything about this A9LH hack so this latest release by Gateway has got my quite excited, probably this excited since the emunand release days v1.1 or something like that can't remember which tbh, if I knew more about the hack that is open for everyone now I might take that leap but I have always trusted the GW team since way back in the day so I have always stuck with my GW cards and waited for a release.

Did it fail? Had the same problem for aurora's, thats why i used dark_samus :)

Yep, I compiled it myself and it resulted in a brick: I'm currently in the process of hardmodding it (almost done)

The build wasn't compatible with SafeA9LHInstaller and yet passed the SafeA9LHInstaller checks. However, my reading comprehension skills must have said otherwise~
Argh, the hardmod took longer than I thought. Anyway, it's done. I'm going to flash my NAND backup on and try again.

4 pages behind and no time to read. Just wanted to add another easter egg I just noticed. This is nothing new for Luma users, but it's new for GW: Exiting system settings from emunand returns you to emunand. And you don't need the red card in for that. FWIW.

What sort of a console do you have? Also, it's just weird: I can't write to the NAND at all when FIRM isn't running (such as on the bootrom error screen, and the gateway menu when trying to restore a dump made by gateway itself), but when it is, I can just fine (such as making a Mii, or installing a CIA), so I'm at a loss as to what it could be.

I've tried multiple computers and SD cards for the Gateway menu (but not multiple hardmod SD adapters/hardmod-compatible USB adapters yet).
I have both an o3ds and n3ds (both XL models). I'm using my o3ds for GW testing. Something is wrong with your hard mod. Or your PC. If you've been able to use your hard mod while NOT on the blue screen, then there is definitely something wrong with your hard mod. Try a different card reader. I have different readers for o and n3ds. Neither will work with both.

You're issue sounds really strange. I wouldn't necessarily blame Gateway yet (Or imply that they're being malicious) simply because it's a beta release. Might just be something screwed up for some reason in Gateway's implementation, or it could really just be a fault of your 3DS (Unrelated to the current release).
It's actually Alpha, based off of their naming. That hard mod issue is definitely NOT something to do with the software though.

Hardmodded and successfully unbricked my system. Compiled a console-specific .3dsx A9LH installer using the main.c mod liomajor posted, but I'm not sure how to go about installing it without a proper pre-A9LH backup (I can't decrypt the cetk with the A9LH entrypoint for Cakes to use it and I'm not sure how to get around firm blocking on Luma)

Anyone have any pointers as to how I can attempt to re-install A9LH without using SafeA9LHInstaller? (This mod is currently incompatible with SafeA9LHINstaller)

Actually gateways Old Brick Code encrypts EMMC which prevents normal hard mods fro unbricking the Device you have to use a raspberyy PI etc to get low level formatting to do it

So is there a chance that if I upgrade to Luma A9LH using the current guides, that i'll also be able to boot into gw mode as well?

Because right now I only really use my gw when i run out of mSD space, or to test roms before converting to cia (or if a mod rom won't convert) and to use the cheat system.

I use rxTools to launch emunand and play my cia's because this saves my battery by not leaving the gw card in the system and it saves me having to carry cards around. (also boot rate not 100% for either)

Could I restore my sysnand and install Luma using A9LH (the non-gw method). Setup emunand (or not), and then use hbl or something to launch into Gateway mode when I want to? (I mean as things are now, regardless of how gw will boot under the new update).

Like is the main problem that gateway doesn't support 11.x yet or are they purposely making it not work with other entry points post their A9LH update?
(sorry if this has been asked a thousand times already, been reading through but just want some clarification on my situation)

Of course they are. Gateway is doing something completely wrong here. Intentionally. You don't just accidentally lock down something like a9lh. You don't just accidentally forget vital steps in the process. Beta/alpha/final... In the end it's affecting the community.

Will they consider not being so closed off? Will they fix the issues currently plaguing users? Will squee stop posting memes? Find out next time on Dragon Ball Z.

It will only affect people if they let it and all I see here are non-gateway users who are affected. I ignored Squee XD hehehehe! Well if you have so many question just keep calm and Gatewait. I hope someone makes a meme out of that.
I just like watching the drama unfold.

I'm not so sure it's just me, since Kazuma77 had a similar problem, though I don't know if Kazuma has a hardmod or not, and he was on O3DS. In any case, I'm doing more testing with my Anker USB adapter, and I think I can rule that out as the culprit now. It's going to come down to my hardmod or the SD adapter it uses, but that still wouldn't explain why the Gateway menu consistently fails to restore a dump.

I don't have a hard mod. Just taking educated risks. I used the known safe methods of getting to 2.1 (I remember the SysUpdater horror stories, and wasn't about to try the beta version of Time Machine). So the only risk I took was that the A9LH installer and NAND restorer would mess things up. GW's NAND restoration code has been solid for a long time, so this seemed unlikely. I also have Sky Blue and Sky+ laying around, so I'm maybe a bit overconfident, having every trick in the book at my disposal. I took another educated risk again, updating to 9.9 with PSMD, when none of my NAND.bin files worked, after reading that firm protection was not enabled, and that people were getting factory 11.0 (and not getting a brick) when updating online. It worked, and I was then able to downgrade, and restore my original A9LH SysNAND.

I would have tried considering doing this, but if they're locking NANDs, I'm definitely 125% not doing it until it's confirmed for sure that locks on NANDs are removed.

Don't mess with it. There are enough people who have FIRM and NAND dumps to provide them to those that can make good use of them to provide us with a working alternative should GW fail to provide a .bin file. It's not worth risking getting stuck. Especially if you don't have a Sky+ loaded up with PSMD and CN ROMs to bail yourself out.
