I agree that CFC1 and CFC2 are better.
Though, I must say that after getting myself all set up for disappointement, it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. I don't know if that's a comment about the game quality or a comment about how much I expected it to disappoint.
I liked some aspects of the engine. Some of the animations and movement are rather nice. They definitely put some time into parts of this.
The idea of the new game mechanics intrigues me, too. Though, I'm not sure yet if they actually make for a fun game. I'll have to play some more battles before I decide on that.
The text is pretty bad. I am assuming that the translation was done very quickly. For a game with so much lead-in conversation, it was poorly handled.
Much of the user input is shoddy. There was one time that I wanted to pick a card from my hand and place it on the field, but it took me like 4 tries just to select the correct card.
The idea of the limited map movement sucks. It's much more enjoyable to control your character than to just click on a map point and watch him walk to it. I assume, though, that was done so that it could be stylus-driven.
The system for browsing/reading cards sucks. To see different parts of a card, you have to hit R and L shoulder buttons to page through the card text/mechanics. Also, this goes back to the translation bit, the card text is horrible. I kinda expected it with CFC1, but this seems way worse. Sometimes, I wasn't sure what the card was going to do.
Anyway, even after all that, I'm going to give SNK the benefit of the doubt. They've earned that (even though, they're actually Playmore, now). I'll play some more battles with it before I decide if the main part of the game is fun or not. I think it could still be rather enjoyable, but I haven't quite figured it all out, yet.
