A big thank you for taking your time to explain all this, I read Plailect's guide, but my english is not very good plus I don't have high CFW knowledge, so I got lost.
The final question, is Luma better than Cakes? What are the benefits of using LUMA?

How do I decide what is right for me? I just got my N3DS in the mail. How do I decide what CFW etc is right for me. What is best? Safest? Im sure these questions get asked a poopload so where is a good place to start researching to answer my own questions?

Best is Luma + a9lh and it's safe as long as your not asking for a brick

It is much better I'll name a few advantages it automatically patches everything if your on new 3ds everything can run at I believe 60 fps it's cleaner and nicer and has a cool icon I'm sure there a lot more just take this much

As long as Im not asking for a brick?
The install procedure (5 fairly long steps?) seems pretty complicated and I already have a Sky3ds+ ordered. Is it pretty foolproof and I should just not worry about it? Or should I just stick with the skycard?

I was in the same situation as you are now a few months ago and managed to complete the whole process. My recommendation is not purchasing any hardware as it may become obsolete anytime.
Installed Smash bros 3ds with fbi yesterday + the update 1.1.5 with the cia with bigbluemenu but a new patch is out, the 1.1.6.
My question is, can i download the update 1.1.6 from the eshop or shall i wait a cia?
( if i get the new cia, do i need to uninstall the 1.1.5 to install the 1.1.6 ? )

It really isn't complicated just breathe it in and even the program's take care of you is what I ment so you won't brick unless your asking for it and your sky3ds will become an expensive piece of plastic after you do this lmao
I followed Plailect's guide and at the end of Step 3 when it updates the RedNAND to the latest version it wouldn't go back into the homebrew launcher and went straight into updating. I left it going as I didn't want to brick my 3ds, but now it looks like I've managed to update the sysNAND to 11.0.0-33E
As I can no longer get into the homebrew launcher either via the buttons or the browser am I stuck on sysNAND 11.0.0-33E?
Should I have powered off at the update stage?

- Will I be able to play NA games online? I have heard there are problems playing wrong region games online.
- Has Nintendo given any indication that they will release a NA version of the smaller n3ds, other than the overpriced/ugly one in the Animal Crossing bundle?

Where the difference? I use BootCTR9 to boots cakes. Do I have to care what do I use?
In BootCTR9 I can decide if I want the screen to be on or off. Does this bypass the screen init?

I did read somewhere that oothax doesn't require a browser, so I guess that's true?
Here is my plan, please correct me if I am wrong:
- Install oothax 10.1.0-0 with my CFW system
- Upgrade my O3DS to 10.1 with a cart
- Downgrade to 9.2.0-20 with SysUpdater
- Celebrate

Question: I tried installing legit CIA on my young relative's EUR original 3DS and all installed fine... apart from Pokemon Y which ends up not appearing at all. I tried several different CIAs but running them results in the thing not installing at all. On NASA, it'll install super quick but once again, nothing on the homescreen.
If it helps, it's on a 9.2 firmware and I'm not too confident about using Emunand just in case it goes wrong.

There's a problem with the Legit .cia of Pokemon Y, it's well known and there's nothing to fix that
Hi guys. I have got a problem when downgrading my old 3ds. So it is an EU version old small one, with a 5.1.0E ofw. I have got it from a friend who didn't play it for like 2 years or more.
So I have checked tons of the posts/guides. Most of them are telling me that I do not need a flash card(or gateway/r4) then I used the method without it.
The problem is when I put the newest Launcher.dat in my 3ds' SD card root, and then try to open go.gateway-3ds.com. It freezes every time, sometimes with a red Launcher.dat loading__________, sometimes without anything.
I have tried reset 3ds, clean cookies, history turn wifi on off restart 3ds. I can not get into the gateway menu.
So any idea what is going on about my stuff?

Moving from Aurienand to Luma, is there an easy or anyway to tell what version of Aurienand you are on?
Okay, I could use some help. I'm recently bought a new 3ds xl that already had both cakes and homebrew on it, along with several games that the previous owner had put on there. I'm trying to get luma on it as well. There is more than enough room as its a 64gb micro so card. Anyway, I downloaded the luma files from the github site and pretty sure I placed the files and folders in the right locations. Anyways while in homebrew I can load up luma and it takes me to the configuration screen option and I click start to save and reboot. The 3ds loads back to homebrew where I can select my options such as cakes, Hans and so on, but when I select luma again it takes me to the configuration screen.
