Hacking Im about to attempt to upgrade from rxtools, to Luma with A9HL. Any suggestions before I start?

I think it's better asking on this topic.

I have the same setup (RxTools) on my both devices (O3DSXL and 2DS). Finally decided to start the process, with the 2DS first, but at this point on Part 4 of the PlaiLect guide...

26. Put your SD card in your computer, then copy over sysNAND_original.bin andemuNAND_original.bin to a safe folder on your computer, you will need them later (Your backups should match one of the sizes on this page; if they do not, you should delete them and make new ones!)

The sizes doesn't match: Dumped both Emunand/Sysnand twice each on 2DS, and they have 954MB each dump, but this shouldn't be possible for the 2DS listed here ( https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/NAND-Size ). :( I have no idea what I'm doing wrong, any suggestions?

Did you chose nand backup (min size)? If so that is why

No, I just choose "Sysnand Backup/Emunand Backup" accordingly on OTP Helper... (following steps 20->24 from the guide)
(And didn't found "Nand Backup min size", either)

20. Open OTPHelper
21. Go to "NAND Backup & Restore"
22. Backup EmuNAND to emuNAND_original.bin (you can use Up and Down / Left and Right to change the name)
23. Go to the SysNAND options menu on the main menu
24. Backup SysNAND to sysNAND_original.bin

Curiously, 954MB is a NAND size allowed for the O3DS, but not 2DS. Strange :(

Try backing them up with decrypt9, I never use otphelper for backing them up so I can't really help there.

Did that, and even before starting, Decrypt9 shows the dump will have 943MB now - but only when I choose "Nand Backup min size", indeed.

So I can proceed with both Sys/EmuNAND dumps through Decrypt9, then?

You don't want to do minsize, see what size it gives you with the normal dump

Did that... 954MB through normal dump, exactly like OTPHelper was giving me before. :/
Then that's the size of your nand. I tried looking on 3dsbrew and it wasn't helpful. I'm not sure why the guide doesn't have that size listed. Maybe post in the thread for the guide and see if plailect knows

Just reporting here too... everything went smoothly. Now I have a9LH + Luma on my 2DS, and except by the situation involving NAND sizes (that took me some hours until have definitive answers), the whole process was more faster than I thought at first :)

Tomorrow I'll do the same on my O3DSXL then. Again, thanks everyone for all the help (at this post and in the other) :D

So after using it for a day I can say that it was absolutely, no doubt in my mind, well worth the time and effort spent on this. I am extremely happy with this. I can't thank you guys enough for all your help.

Just so you know, your NAND dump is completely normal! According to this post made in January, we already know about a possible 2DS 954MB: http://gbatemp.net/threads/release-...formatter-manager.405921/page-11#post-5944178

Also, it might be because you're using the more recent RedNand than EmuNand: RedNand is a more optimal version of EmuNand which takes up less space, and that might alternatively be where the confusion is.

No problem, I'm glad it worked out for you! By the way, don't forget that you can hold Start as you boot up to launch Decrypt9: If you accidentally bricked your SysNand, you can enter Decrypt9 to restore a SysNand backup! If you're ever in doubt, a SysNand.bin is your restore point to get out! (I recommend making a SysNand.bin backup before every system update you perform. If you're using the latest version of Luma3DS, you should have no worries updating forever, but otherwise check again with GBATemp if you run into issues. Updating luma is as simple as deleting your /luma/ folder, then replacing it as well as arm9loaderhax and NTR firmware.bin from Part 5 in the guide with the latest version of the program on its Github.)
