It's pretty much about 3% now, which is a pretty low guess. The tools have been updated and everything is double checked so the risk is pretty damn low. I suggest you use Plialects guide: https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki
As it is the best right now. Don't worry about your O3DS. The biggest risk here is downgrading to 2.1 and the o3ds can run this natively (the n3ds can not) so no worries there.

O that's good to hear. I'm currently on 4.4 with a Gateway and it works alright but it lacks support for a few things I would like.
however it does support the spider exploit for scanning QR codes (just have to install browser cia with BBM) and it has it own cheat system and some other nice things. Mostly I use the spider exploit, will this still work? Other then that I haven't really figured out how to play back up games with this except for installing .cia files. With Gateway i just put .3ds games on my microSD and go. Is this still possible with this hack or is there some other trick to it? Sorry for being such a noob :P

How safe is this? I mean how big is the risk of bricking? I'm a noob at this and I can't afford making any mistakes, and with afford I mean that if I brick my console it will be about 5 years until I can buy a new one. I have read through it and watch some guides on youtube but they are more or less all for new3DS. But as I said I would not like to brick my console.

Plailect's Guide is fantastic. 3DS hacking noob here. Over the last week, I successfully modded 6 3DSes (2x n3ds 4x o3ds) using Plailec'ts instructions. Depending on the firmware version, I used browserhax or OoTHax as the entry point. The best bet is to print the guide, read each step twice, and cross 'em off the list as you complete them. I had once incident where the an o3DS bricked, during the downgrade to 9.2. However, I was able to boot up in safe mode, let it update to 10.7, and then tried the process again. Once I got the hang of it, it only took about 4 hours per console.

Im stuck at Part 3 Step 16 of this guide https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki

Cant get the CakeFw to start. Keeps getting an error that says "An error occurred while loading the payload. Make sure your launcher is located at : /Cakes.dat"

In the article it says this may take a couple trys. Not sure how many I should be dealing with however

How could i run foreign DLC on a game? (in my case, Eng DL

Yes. Was actually wondering if I was supposed to place it somewhere else. But its been on the root of the SD card.

Edit: Hmm. Well I was in homebrew, then clicked start, which took me to all the folders and such. I scrolled to the bottom and I didnt see a Cakes.dat. Not sure if it would show up there or not. Only reason i figured the Cakes.dat was on there, is because the backup of all the files on the SD card had it there, wonder if it got changed. Ill have to check via putting my SD card back into my computer to make sure

2nd Edit: Well I'll be damned. It wasnt on the SD card. How the hell did my backup files have the Cakes.dat but not the SD file itself? Odd. Guess Ill just copy the Cakes.dat from the backup to the SD

Do you have Firmware.bin AND Firmkey.bin in the Cakes folder on your root? (:/Cakes/Firmware.bin :/Cakes/Firmkey.bin)

Yeah apparently I didnt put the Cakes.dat back on the SD card, even though I had it on the SD backup folder. Odd. Thanks man. Onward to the rest of the steps

Edit: Ok now Im on step 21 of Part 3. I was able to boot into RedNand (indication by the home menu showing up). Now it asks me to Reboot into SysNand. Not sure how to do that. Does me turning the game off and on automatically reboot into SysNand? (Step 19 said you must use CakeFW in homebrew everytime to get into RedNand, so I assume if I turn off the console and restart it it will go back into SysNand?)

Just need a quick confirmation

they set you up with an emunand so you can have a nand on 10.7 and 9.2. the emunand will be on 10.7 and the emunand will be on 10.7. if you want to keep ur games and what not on the emunand when it tell u to run tinyformat on the emunand dont. run it on the sysnand instead. you can also just finish the guide and have a9lh and have a fully hacked 3ds that you dont have to worry about not being able to run games on

On Step 23 of Part 3. Tells me to format using TinyFormat, now I was about to do what the directions said, but then I remembered this quote, particularly the bolded part. A little bit confused.

Since before this step I restarted the console out of RedNand, and back into SysNand, I assume I am reformatting the SysNand, not to mention thats what step 23 says. I just want to make sure what Im reading on step 23 is not going against what pbanj told me I should do. (Not even sure what EmuNand is anyway, the only terms I was dealing with for the most part in Part 3 was SysNand and RedNand, however at the top of the page of Part 3, it says EmuNand is kinda the same thing as RedNand, so just dont know if I should be separating these as different terms or use them interchangeably when somebody uses them)

Basically do I continue formatting it like the Step23 says? Or do something else?

Do you already have an emunand or are you starting from stock?

I dont know what you mean. The only thing I've seen with the words EmuNand on it was the EmuNand9 on the homebrew. I dont know anything else in regards to what EmuNand is or means. Sorry for my constant ignorance.

Edit: Not sure if this helps but I've also done the previous 2 parts, in case the answer lied there somewhere

2nd Edit: The only things I know I have are, the 3ds, the Sky3ds+, the 2 SD cards. Anything relating to some firmware/software, w/e the word I should be using to indicate what data rests inside the 3ds, has only been put there from when I started this guide at Part 1, to 2, to 3 at the moment. Not sure if this helps

Ok, now on step 26 of part 3, which tells me to go back to part 1 and do it all over again. But got a question. on part 1 step 2. The first step told me to download the starter kits contents onto the SD card. Ok no problem, but then step 2 doesnt say anything about putting the SD card back into the 3ds, nor does any step after 2 say that. Am I suppose to leave it out this entire time? (Im pretty sure its not, since that would seem too out of the ordinary, especially considering I did part 2 and most of 3 with the SD card back into the 3ds, but just trying to make sure. Im so close to finishing part 3 so I can finally get a private header, so just want to make sure I dont screw up at the finish line)

Finally completed Part 3! Thank you pbanj and Ricken! Never could have gotten this far without ya.

So since I completed Part 3, does this mean I can finally attempt to acquire a private header?

Edit: I saw a reddit post link this thread from this site https://gbatemp.net/threads/guide-everything-under-the-sky3ds.386045/

Should I use this one? Using the gateway method or w/e, since I dont have a powersave?
