Is there a way to force this? Maybe a save with them unlocked? Or, perhaps, a Gecko code someone has developed?

I'd love to actually use some of the DLC fighters. The automatically unlocked free-dlc stages and music are great, but I'm just curious if anyone has figured it out yet.

We can't pirate dlc yet tho and the file to tell the game dlc is unlocked can't be installed without sig patches and the file is not stored in the save infornetly :T
Looking at the content files it looks like Smash's DLC is downloaded with the patch. All the videos for cloud and the like are in the patched files. At this point, for smash at least, I'm fairly certain it's a matter of finding the right place in memory to modify.

Well, DDD can dump DLC. It's in the /vol/aoc folder. AOC = Add-On Content
Loadiine GX2 would need to be updated to be able to use them though. At least that's the last I've read about it.

I know that the characters are already in the patch, but the aoc files would unlock them so that the characters become usable.

Where is the thread explaining file replacement Mario Kart 8 to get DLC content like tracks and music working? Did it get deleted?
Well the thing is that Mario Kart 8, you need additional files from the eShop as another title to be able to use it, the track models aren't in any update data, unlike Smash which has to have that data for online characters. I was hoping Hyrule Warriors also included the data in updates but I doubt it :< can't access eShop to get it even if I wanted to. I know some of the guys working on Sm4sh mods have figured it out, but I don't know the method

Literally just poke the RAM value for your character with the value of a DLC character while on the stage select screen
I just modified my Wii U two days ago and got Gecko to connect yesterday. I'd do this, except for one issue I'm having. Gecko loses connection if a search goes on too long. It happens consistently. I can poke values that I already know their location in the memory, but I cannot search using a known value or else gecko loses connection about four minutes into the search.

why not just install the (pirated) dlc?
if you are able to use cheats like ntr, then you can install the cia.

That's because it tries to read from an area that isn't mapped, it probably scans the whole 0x10000000-0x50000000 range and the whole thing isn't mapped, it's usually 0x4 something, and you gotta use OSEffectiveToPhysical to check that, which the dotNet client doesn't do :\ I would continue pyGecko but I'm honestly better off switching to C++ and normal Qt, very slowly learning it all. You're better off switching to the dump tab (second to last or something), and dumping 0x10 to like 0x2B, most data that isn't graphics doesn't go beyond that. Then you can load it into a hex editor, search for something, and then you can use the memory tab to see stuff as it slowly updates and use the memdump as a basis. Searching is clunky in general, and there are better ways to go about it

Understood. Quick unrelated question - have you by chance found a way to force the inventory onto the TV with Wind Waker HD? I don't own a Pro Controller, but my gamepad's screen broke last night so I can't see the inventory.

That's beyond my capabilities for the moment, your best chance would be to wait until decaf or cemu is developed enough to find the thread/framebuffer outputting it and somehow change it to the other screen, I don't know enough about GX2 to know how that works. Or someone could try to spoof input from Gamepad -> Pro controller but again I haven't done enough research to know how they interface with it, should be a pretty simple patch once you do though

Fair enough. I was right at the end of the game too so I'll have to wait until I can order a replacement screen to finish the game. Now I'm trying to extract Hyrule Warriors with UWizard but for some reason it's only spitting out the System folder.

You have to use VGM tool box for hyrule Warriors. Uwizard won't extract it properly.
