All of you saying how Undertale is compiled as an Win32 executable and thus can't be run on the 3DS are half-right and half-wrong. The UNDERTALE.exe file that you use to run the is actually another program named the "GameMaker Runner", with the icon changed to the Undertale icon and the exe renamed. What this runner does is look for a file named "data.win" (or "game.ios" for the Mac version). Inside this data.win file is contained the various sprites, sound effects and other assets used by the game, as well as the code used to run the game. However, instead of code designed to run directly for a specific operating system, the code inside the data.win file is bytecode. Similarly to the ".jar" files used by Java, which can (usually) run on any operating system supported by Java, this bytecode can run on any platform the GameMaker Runner supports and Undertale has already been ported, completely unofficially, to Android and Linux in this way (as the GameMaker Runner exists on both platforms). The problem is when it comes to 3DS, that there is no GameMaker Runner.

It would be theoretically possible to reverse engineer the bytecode used by the GameMaker Runner and create an implementation of it for the 3DS, but that would be a large task indeed.
There is an html5 export option in Game Maker Studio, the software in which this was made from. 3DS and Wii U do support html5 (for example: Mario vs Donkey Kong: Tipping Stars) so it may be doable... but likely not.

So a couple months or weeks ago somebody made an undertale port for the 3ds and then he quit so I am trying to finish it but I need some help.
I just need somebody to make a program that depends on all of the files that are for undertale
This is really based off of the android port but It might work. Hopefully I can find the variable names for the o3ds and n3ds and edit them on the .cfg file

Ok, here's your 0 sarcasm. real reply.
I am in no way 'being mean' Just stating the facts.
Cold, emotionless facts.
Facts:
  1. Judging by your replies, you do not have the knowledge to work on this project.
  2. In order to be "asking for help" you have to have a basic knowledge of what your doing. otherwise you're asking people to do ALL the work for you.
  3. The game is not made in c,c++, java, or any other standard language, it's made in gamemaker, that means porting the source code would be much more difficult then any other standard langue. It would be likely easier to rebuild the game from scratch.
  4. Recreating a currently in production, copyrighted, closed source game, without the author's permission is illegal.
So what were you exactly hoping to accomplish with this post,
With a tile of "[WIP] Undertale...again" ..
Have you put any work into it? Do you even have devkitpro installed?
What were you actually planning to do as part as this project?

Asking someone to help you make an application to properly interpret on the 3DS is like asking MS Paint to open a MP3. The 3DS isn't capable of it, and it would take an insane amount of work to make 'WINE' for 3DS. As someone who worked on that Undertale project, this is hilarious. And the other person working on it didn't become lazy, he left the homebrew scene for his own reasons.

I've played and beaten both types of runs. The idea behind the game isn't that unique and the humor seemed a little too try-hard to me. I guess I'm just a cynic though.

I mean considering wine dose not even run many windows apps(even after 22 years, and tons of contributes) that's pretty much impossible
and remember (W)ine (I)s (n)ot an (E)mulator, it requires the host os to have the same architecture

That's the only thing I've read on this thread that makes SOME sense.

A gold star for you, friend. :)

EDIT- After spending 11 seconds on wikipedia, I found this:

"According to HTML5test.com, the 3DS internet browser scores 80 out of a possible 555 points, which places it higher than the PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii at 53 and 66 points respectively but lower than all other game console browsers. The New 3DS however scores 311 points, placing it second to the Nvidia SHIELD in the portable gaming category and third out of all gaming consoles. The 3DS and New 3DS can play some (but not all due to hardware restrictions placed by Nintendo on the Web Browser) HTML5 games which bear the <canvas>element and it can play most CSS and JavaScript games. Examples of this can be found from many Internet demos such as the website 3DSPlaza, 3DSPaint, PainiteGames

YoYo Games made it possible for indie developers to export basic PC games created on their platform to HTML5. An example of this is Content Marketing Game"

YoYo Games are the guys who made Gamemaker, so it may be possible...

Understandable, I will respect your opinion and keep it in mind for when I play the game myself.

Undertale isn't open source, so we just need to run .exe files on the 3ds, right? Well, Virtualbox is opensource so we can just port that to the 3ds and run Windows in a VM to play Undertale.

So someone just make the Virtualbox port for me, kthx.
