I'm using http://usenet-news.net/
Pretty good, speeds up around 900KB/s
Odd, cause I max out my speed using them, so I usually download at 2MB/s (megabytes

Usenetserver.com is the way to go.

they have a 3-day unlimited for $3 thing. I use that periodically because you can download a lot in 3 days with max speed.

I recommend GrabIt. Freeware, ez to use.

I am currently using Giganews unlimted with SSL. It is pretty expensive but it has been great for me. How does Usenetserver.com compare to Giganews? Any comments on completion? How is Usenetserver.com search, useful? This thread has me questioning whether or not I should switch from Giganews.

Thanks!

I didn't try giganews, so I can't compare it on completion.
I never had any problem, except maybe for prince of persia PAL which displays each file with 70~80% completion, maybe it's the same on each server, I didn't try to download them.

And for the searching engine, it's very useful, quick and with easy nzb creation.
Except the one from usenetserver, I only know http://beta.binaries.nl/ but not always complete and don't show the completeness of files, but let you create nzb too.

http://binsearch.info is a great search engine. It groups everything together, can just create the NZB and go. I use it all the time without any problems. Just make sure to change the retention in the options or else it only displays 1 week.

UseNetServer also has their own Global Search part of their site that lets you make your own nzb files. https://globalsearch.usenetserver.com/index.php

I personally use UseNetServer with NewsLeecher to download and I also use NewzBin to get my nzb files because it takes a lot of guessing work out of things when someone doesn't have the content in the message title when they upload.

If you live in the US & you want Verizon FiOS for a low price, PM me with info. I work for Verizon as a FiOS Support Agent. Soon we (Verizon) are going to Gigabit PON cards. This is the fastest service you can get in the US & it's getting faster for the same price.

I'm in the uk and used to use usenetserver.com. I was with them for about 2 years then moved to giganews. The reason i did this is that i got upgraded to 10meg cable and usenet just couldn't keep up. Moved to giganews (using the european server) and i now max at 1.17kbps - upgrading to 20meg cable at the end of the month, i hope they can keep up with that too :-)

I know giganews is more expensive but IMHO it is worth every penny. I regularly download around 500-700gb a month and they never complain.

I just started using UsenetServer a couple weeks ago, and they have filled my 10Mbit line without a problem. My ISP farms their news to Giganews, but it was capped at 200 KB/sec. Then after my quota (80GB or so), I started looking around. Damn, a Wii game in an hour at 1.2MB/sec. Kinda makes them days of 14.4k modems seem so ... ancient.
