Then this may be the cause for the brick. You need to understand which patch does what. This hight light my point "...choosing patches is not ideal for newbie especially when you're to downgrading and flashing to SYSNAND..." in my previous post.

I just realised it, hence the post ^^

At the time i read that part it told me to only check enable emunand and driver signature

Right now Step 18 of Part 3 says [Activate the "Enable EmuNAND", "Disable Signature Checks", and "Survive reboots when launching some titles" patches, then press Start to continue]. That's that 3rd option I didn't find so I checked the remaining one (something about forcing not writing the FIRM partition or something).

Thanks. I keep getting unlucky with this CFW story : updated my 3DS past 9.2 without knowing, then when 10.3 downgrade was out I missed it, now with 10.6 downgrade I had to try 10+ times and reset my console to get it working and finally I brick while trying to setup arm9lh :rofl2: :hateit:

Luckily it will prevent some other guys to do the same mistakes I did if we can figure out what it is...

Just stopping buy to say the same thing happened to me. Everything went well then on that last step, black screen. and yes Cakes was acting like a ass not wanting to boot sometimes.

You have a frankenfirmware of N3DS 9.2 and O3DS 2.1 (that long of a gap breaks things). That option is used only in A9LH SysNAND.

Cakes might be the issue here. I don't know why it is even used, as getting the OTP from an RxTools emunand is extremely easy and doesn't have to worry about checking things in a patches section.

Just wanted to give an update, no luck on the N3DS XL, its now boxed up and ready to ship to @hundshamer
Opened my pokemon N3DS finally, downgraded fine to 9.2, booting straight into REINand 10.6 via Menuhax Type 2 setup. Connected online into Omega Ruby perfectly, 10 test boots like this with 0 Fails, I can live with the boot time, I'm happy with this setup.

I just want to say thanks to everyone who tried to aid me in this whole ordeal, really appreciate it, was honestly expecting to get trolled or flamed.

So, i have the same problem. I did all the steps, backup my emunand at the end of the part 2, OTPhelper made an error when trying to restore sysnand with my 2.1 emunand, so i updated otphelper ( there is a bug in previous release i read ), and i'm now unable to boot into anything, just black screen with or without sdcard. So no solutions i suppose ?

Only hardmod to restore thé NAND. I sent my console yesterday to Nintendo's SAV, hoping they won't notice the 2.1/9.2 frankenfirmware^^

Idk how it works in Canada, but normally the credit car receipt isn't enough. If you bought it on internet you are likely to find your bill on their website, else I'd suggest you go back to the store who sold it to you and ask them for a copy of the bill.

Are you sending yours back to Nintendo? Did they charge you or is it free? I have the same exact problem as you and I got my N3DS 2weeks ago :/

I did precisely this... I think that Third Option we checked off might have fucked us over.... :(

Yes, I'm returning it to Nintendo(I bought it in April 2015). Sending it is free of charges, but the repair is not covered by the warranty they'll send you a quotation (not sure it's the right word). If you refuse it they'll charge you the return fees (13€ in France).
It has been 2 days and I haven't had any news yet, but that's pretty normal =)

It appears it's indeed that option who's faulty. Anyway, when I get it back (either after Nintendo's SAV or after hardmoding) I'll probably install reinand instead of cakes (unless they give it back to me under some 10.7 firmware^^).

Not true, I didn't check anything other then enable emunand and driver signature and had the same issue. I think the issue lies in the unbricking patch not installing correctly on some emunand firmwares.

Haha scary, my N3DS is on the way right now and I was prepping to go through this guide.. not so sure now! Have successfully followed the guide for THREE O3DS with absolutely no problems though! Sorry to all that got stuck on black screen! :(

The reason i don't want to blame cakes or the guide is because people have succeeded with it, i think theres

This is the reason i feel that this is why the N3ds unbricking patch is the culprit, this is the only difference between the two.

It's not. The extra option is O3DS only. The option they checked disables writing to FIRM, causing it to be 9.2 FIRM with the other files from 2.1.

Bricks are the result of user error. There's nothing more to it. Even the bugged OTP Helper didn't cause bricks. The only way you will brick your 3DS is if you don't understand what you're doing/why you're doing it and you make a mistake. You may think you did everything correctly, but if the end result was a bricked 3DS then obviously you didn't.
