Hey guys, I bought a japanese n3ds and it's on 9.1.0-20. I want to be able to run backups, also from other regions. From what I read I should get the ReiNand + NTR or CakesFW. Which would be better if I've pretty much no idea about hacking?

I've read this guide before and is it okay to stop at the Part 3 step? I've read some opinions stating that the arm9 hax might be dangerous, but I don't know how creditable they were.

A9LH is safe. It's one of the best options out here as it will allow you to restore your 3ds without a hard mod in case of a brick. It also boots way faster. I suggedt just following the guide till the end.

Hello guys,

I think I screwed up something on my nintendo 3ds by installing the build-in NVRAM on old 3ds

I did that because I wanted to do the exploit using the DS Profile instead of the browser, since my system in on 9.2

Now I can't start emunand, I have already restored the nand but still can't do that ...

It says that I need to insert the gateway in the slot but the gateway is already in there, that happens because my 3DS can't detect any games (both 3ds and ds) on the cartridge slots, that only happened after installing the built-in NVRAM

I have already tried playing some DsiWare games that I own on sysnand, restoring the sysnand using the gateway menu, formating the entire 3ds, restoring the sysnand using hardware mod but it still can't detect any of my games in the cartridge slot ...

I managed to install the DS Profile exploit but only with rxTools (to do that I did a downgrade, my 3ds it's on 4.2) but still can not detect any of my retail games but the DS Profile exploit seems to be working just fine ...

Please help ...

Sorry about my english ...

I have Homebrew launcher installed via home menuhax. How can I set up an emunand or cfw from there.

I've seen rxtools is a .dat file but Homebrew launcher works with .3dsx

Inside the rxTools download there should be a "ninjhax" folder. Go inside there, and then inside the "rxTools" folder. There should be a file called "rxTools.3dsx." Copy this file to the root of your SD card. Rename "boot.3dsx" to something else such as "bootHBL.3dsx." Rename "rxTools.3dsx" to "boot.3dsx." After that, you should be able to launch rxTools via Menuhax.

Also make plenty of backups and and compare their checksums. You don't want to flash a bad backup.

I have an O3DS with Menuhax installed.

If you move all the content in your current SD to a new SD will you lose menuhax?

Hi guys,

I have o3ds 4.2 with GW3.7.1 emunand 10.6.
I was very happy to play with this setup until when fireemblem fate cia release with no luck of GW to play the 3rd path.
Then I'm looking to the way to setup with cfw instead.

Questions are:
1. Would sysnand 4.2 is able to setup cfw? (I found a lot of cfw guide but its mostly on 9.2 or 4.5)
> If not, then I have to update all the way up to 10.6 and downgrade to 9.2?
2. Is it possible to setup cfw (or homebrew launcher) to boot my current GW emunand? (I setup many CIAs to this emunand with save games)
> If not, then I would have to reformat everything all over and setup cfw alone then transfer back my backup saved games? (and leave the gw cartridges untouched)

If you only use menuhax to get into homebrew and do not have set up an emunand.. I don't know, sorry.
However:
Check out THIS guide for moving your emunand from one SD to a new SD card.

I don't have emunand yet. I need to change my sd first because it has a low capacity.

So yes, I only use menuhax as a reliable entrypoint.

Hey guys, so I've run into this same problem about 3 times in a row now. I've been following a tutorial to install ReiNand onto my N3DS and everything runs smoothly until one certain point, which is installing .CIA's. The first time this happened, I installed one .CIA, then upon installing the next one, it sent me to an error saying something along the lines of "OUT_OF_RESOURCE". Looking this error up, every site tells me the error means that there is no space on my SD card. However, I'm using a brand new 64gb card that I reformatted to FAT32 so I know that space is not an issue. To attempt to solve this, I completely reformatted my card and started the whole process all over again. This time I attempted to install DevMenu with FBI since multiple people have said that there are less problems when using that installer. However, I got the same "OUT_OF_RESOURCE" error as I did when I tried installing a second CIA the first time around. After erasing my SD card and trying again a third, time the same result occurred as the second time while installing DevMenu. Anybody have any way to solve this? Starting from the very beginning over and over again is very tiring!

One more question: is it safe enough to do a process like this one (https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/Part-2-(Downgrading)) without a hardmod in case things go wrong?

There are not so many brick reports from downgrading recently. Hardmodding is always good in case things go wrong but following that guide will give you an option to restore a brick without hardmodding.
The thing is, most bricks are caused by users not reading carefully (such as using n3ds files on o3ds......) so just make sure you read everything really really carefully and double check everything. If you do that, you'll be fine.

Thanks Temarile. I will take my time and make sure it's all correct!

Quick noob question: I have a N3DSXL with 9.2 sysNAND and 9.2 emuNAND and a few different CFWs usable via HBL (rxtools, reinand, and maybe a couple others). I have a few CIA files installed to emunand that say they have an update available. I can still run them without updating, it just says they're available. Will it cause an issue if I update them? I'm a little unclear on whether it's trying to update my firmware or just the file itself (it seems like just the file itself, but I'm new to this so I'd rather get confirmation)

Thanks!

If you have unlinked your NNIDs (not sure on this, my NNIDs are unlinked, I haven't tested it with linked) and you've installed the same region CIA as your device, it's possible to update through the eshop. If you have an out-of-region cia (such as a U cia on an EU device) installed, you can't update through the eshop as you cannot access the eshop of other regions. You need to find the update cia on THAT ISO site.
