For people who want gold pants to show off their Mii's in Mii Plaza on street pass:
Once you are successful in making your Mii have gold pants in Mii Maker, your Mii in Mii Plaza won't have the gold pants. You have to reselect your Mii in Mii Plaza to get the gold pants to appear.

Replacing the CFL_DB.dat copies the Miis over. However, they are still marked as not created by me. They have different colored pants than they originally do, and cannot be used in Mii Plaza. Do I need to modify something (such as the Mii creator's name) to fix this?

Also, all the Miis in the first 3DS's Mii Plaza get added, but with no information, and they don't seem to delete existing Mii Plaza entries so I actually have a couple more than the first 3DS has.

@Jiro2 I haven't had to transfer Miis over before, but is the language of the 3ds different from your original one?
That could be the problem if so.

I'm unaware with what you mean by 'special icons', but anything can be put in the name as long as it is UTF-16.
I don't know if they will display properly, but it should work when writing to the file

So it seems it doesn't change to Gold in Emunand (I think that's what it's called. It's where all my stuff is basically) ... it only changes them in Sysnand(which nothing is really on it) I think it's called. When I start my 3DS it automatically starts through rxtools and that is where all my street passes are and my Mii's (games etc...). the weird part is though when on the regular system, I go into Mii maker and I can see my Mii's there with the gold and when I go into street pass it gets stuck in a loops asking me to choose a Mii for street pass and then says that I have no Mii's. Any advice on this and how to get it to work on the rxtools thing?

Well, how do you run whatever extdata tool are you using? You have to run it within emunand, of course!

Either this tools add console ID editing, or you can enable sharing and copying for everyone, then resave them on-console (note that then they'll become technically different miis)

Yeah I ran them from the homebrew menu but in rxtools the Mii's have regular pants while in my regular sysnand they have gold, so why does this happen? Am I doing something wrong, because I followed the tutorial and read over it multiple times.

I haven't tested this on emuNAND, but I just got unbricking materials in today, so if everything goes well, I may be able to set up a tutorial for emuNAND sometime in the future.

Oh thanks, I didn't know if this was suppose to work on emuNAND or not, I guess I'll just have to wish you luck and hope for the best

I gave my Personal Mii a Japanese name using the CFL_DB.dat file (needed to use the checksum correction method used by the manual gold pants instructions) and there have been no problems with my NNID.
Heck, you can change the Name with the standard alphabet just by editing it the way you'd normally edit any other Mii.

So I got it to work just have to launch the homebrew menu from emuNAND and the Mii's will appear on emuNAND. 1 problem I found was the Mii's won't sparkle in the plaza(they are suppose to right?) and yes I changed them out in the plaza. And when hiring a wandering hero the hero's aren't level 5, they are suppose to be right? And yes the pants are golden. Will this only work if your personal Mii has golden pants?

Your own Mii in the sidescrolling menu won't sparkle in your own plaza.
No, but your golden pants Mii will ALWAYS be level five to everyone else, no matter how often you StreetPass them, never lower, but never higher.
Making your own Personal Mii golden pants'd may result in certain errors, like the possibility of removing the personal status, I need to look in to it more.
