Nintendo's Next Smartphone Game to Feature Best Known Character

nintendologo.jpg

During Nintendo's third quarter financial meeting with investors, the company hinted at what fans can expect from its second smartphone game.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Nintendo posted a "sharp drop" in net profits for the quarter, but countered the disappointing news by confirming its second mobile title will feature one of its "best-known characters."

Along with this news Nintendo has now confirmed 12 million Wii U's have been sold, and over 20 million amiibo have been sold worldwide.

With this news in tow, it's time to speculate where Nintendo will be heading with its next mobile game, after the rather lackluster announcement of Miimoto earlier last year.

So the question is, do we begin seeing virtual console fearturing Mario on phones, or something new entirely?

What're kids into these days? I think the last thing I heard about on smartphones was "Flappy Bird". It'll probably be that just with a Metroid skin, just to rub more salt into the wounds of the Metroid fanbase.

There's Frenchy Bird on Wii U and it has a considerable amount of loyal fans who gladly defend it saying it's a "great" game. It's just as good as Angry Birds and Asphalt. Lasts for 5mins and then poof.

Wario Ware isn't a bad idea, I hope that's what it is. Wario Ware Touched was great. Dumb Ways To Die is kind of the same thing but on mobile, but it only has a few minigames so it gets repetitive very quickly (as does the sequel)

Woohoo Virtual console on Mobile Phones. It's not like any of us have been running emulators on our phone's for years. Hopefully it can be something new like a mobile mario maker where everyone can share maps they make. :P

WarioWare would be a great fit for mobiles, both in principle and control scheme. Also, I've been playing the DS Zelda games on my phone with an emulator, and they work surprisingly well with only touchscreen, even though it's not really a pick-up-and-go series, so unless Nintendo goes the Square Enix way, there probably won't be any Zelda games on phones.

What about Wario Ware franchise? Games such as Wario Ware Twisted or Wario Ware Touched would be great on mobiles.

I've been thinking they'll do like Super Mario Infinity, and give you one user-generated level at a time, but just to play.

Cmooon Warioware is best for smartphones! Each Warioware game uses all of the platform's peripherals so they're always so innovative. Warioware is so perfect for smartphone due to the minigames too.
