Hello, I have a Gateway, and a 32GB card in my N3DS. Its a 9.2 N3DS with 10.5 emunand. Id like to increase the memory to 64GB so I can add more CIAs into my system. Is it an easy matter of just copying my card contents to the new one, or is it more complicated? Can someone tell me what I need to do or direct me to a tutorial or something? Thanks in advance, its much appreciated!

No as Emunand is a separate partition on your SD card. You'd need to backup Emunand (get an Emunand.bin), then use Emunand9 to inject that Emunand.bin into your new SD card. Then you can throw all your files from your old SD card to your new SD card.

Don´t know you FW but if you´re under 10 use this to import and export https://gbatemp.net/threads/save-data-manager-and-editor-for-firmware-up-to-9-9.396245/
But as mentioned before I have no clue where you could find a 100% savefile. Maybe someone will share it with you (I don´t have one, sorry)
My emunand is 10.5 with reinand..

will that program work?

It's quite easy..

Use emunand9 to backup it to emunand.bin
Copy all sdcard contents to pc.

Put new card in and setup like new card.
This will create a hidden emunand partition.

Copy all PC sdcard content back to new card.

Restore emunand.bin to new partition.

You can have both CFW and homebrew. You won't be able to run DS games without a flashcart though.

The best place to start is with rxTools. That'll get you set up with CFW. From there, you can decide whether you want to upgrade to 9.2 or not.

After you've done all of that, check out Retroarch for emulators.

But as far as a cart goes, all I would need is a simple R4 cart or something right? I wouldn't need a Sky3DS or something major and expensive?

So after attempting to downgrade from 9.9 to 9.2 (n3DS XL) I received the 'Error has occurred' screen. System settings looks ok as it's showing 9.2 however attempting to do the CFW guide results in nothing (loading PastaCFW results in a blank screen, loading minipasta boots me back to HBL menu). I tried following the 'Recovering from frankenfirmware' guide but the same issues persist as above. Here is a video of what happens when trying to load minipasta and using downgrade checker.

Will I have to redownload all my CIAs, DLCs and Themes again?

So I realized today that my New3DSXL is on 10.3 and as such I should be able to downgrade it.

My question is, will my EmuNAND from my o3DSXL work fine on the n3DSXL or will I have to make a new one? They're both from the same region.
And yes I do realize I'll have to clone the old 3ds's fat SD card onto a microSD.

Make a new one..

Why would you import EmuNAND o3DSXL to n3DSXL..
You are just asking for trouble..

Also i think the partition size is different.

Yes, just a cheap DS flashcart will do. No need for a 3DS flashcart.
Can you please tell what you are talking about, using R4 cart?

can we unban the R4 from n3ds, so I can play my DS games?

Some of them yes. If your flashcart worked on the 3DS at launch, you can install flashcardtimewarp (you can get this from "some iso site") and your flashcart will work again. If your flashcart never worked on the 3DS, this won't change that.

and to answer why that asking for trouble: each nand: sysnand or emunand, is linked to the console

How would I use rxTools and Gateway on the same 3DS? I'm guessing rxTools-patched emuNAND and Gateway mode are different somehow.

I just coldboot to get into rxTools-patched emuNAND (via MenuHax) for .cia games. To access my Gateway, do I just boot into unpatched sysNAND, then load Gateway mode via the DS Profile exploit, like I used to do before I got rxTools? Is there a newer and/or better way to boot Gateway mode without interfering with how rxTools loads?

Is rxTools-patched sysNAND/emuNAND the same as Gateway mode? Or completely different?

What's the difference between rxTools-patched sysNAND/emuNAND and Dev/Pasta mode?

It would be convenient if I could use my Gateway while on rxTools-patched sysNAND/emuNAND, but it can't be that easy...

For New 3DS, reiNAND is the best CFW to use, right? Anyone recommend a specific guide for setting that up?

As usual, thanks for answering my noob questions. I'm getting the hang of this thanks to your help. :)

RxTools and Gateway both use the same emuNAND. As long as you have them installed correctly, you can use them interchangeably. The only major difference between the two is that if you launch Gateway, you can load games from the red card. With rxTools, you'll be able to launch cias and play original carts.

You can go through the DS profile exploit, or you can use CTRBootManager with an entry for rxTools and an entry for Gateway. That way, on boot you can choose which one you want to use.

rxMode and Gateway mode are essentially the same thing. They both allow you to play unsigned games. Gateway just lets you use the red card and their cheat manager.

There's a guide here with steps to get ReiNAND running.
