Are you able to boot into EmuNAND from Holding L while opening rxTools from HBL? If that doesnt work try holding R while you open rxTools from HBL but its unlikely it will put you into EmuNAND.
...using R worked, wut. Also the emunand has the proper safety app. I'm so confused.

Holding R probably put you into SysNAND please confirm by going into System Settings right after holding R while opening rxTools from HBL (NOT when turning on the system).
And dont be worried about H&S not being there that actually is a good thing it confirms that FBI is injected. When anything is installed on EmuNAND or Over-Installed/Replaced then it wont be in SysNAND. But who cares, Its H&S :P

Ok, That means its just an issue with MenuHax/Coldboot 3dsx. Go back into EmuNAND with R and try changing the Theme to anything like Basic Red or Blue.
Then try power on and see if everything goes fine. Lmk
Dude you're a goddamn magician. I love you, no homo.

All solved.

Thank you so much for taking the time to make this guide however I am getting the slow red flashing bottom screen, I thought that step 8 would fix it but I still have the problem then.

EDIT: I got it to work, in step 8 I was only pressing R + then pressing X and letting go once the screen went black. If anyone else is having this issue, keep holding R after pressing X, it'll boot into emuNAND that way.

I have 10.3, I plan to downgrade to 9.2 the install rxTools.

You mention formatting the system. Do I want to format the system before or after I downgrade? When formatting, do I want to do that with the SD card inserted or without it? What are the consequences of formatting?

Thanks.

Backup everything you can including saves with either "savedata manager" or Save Data Filer. Have a check in the Pre-Steps Spoiler (Its right before Step 1). Downgrade first and then follow this tutorial (Little tip, Format your system before you downgrade to remove your NNID as it will cause a weird issue at the end of the steps that stops you from playing online). Once you downgrade yes, You need to format once again just to be sure theres no 10.3 firmware files like Theme Management files, Home Menu Layout Information, Badges e.t.c

You want to do all of this with the SD card in it but make sure you backup your "3ds" folder and boot.3dsx just so you dont re-download everything. Also this tutorial is aimed towards o3DS and may not work on n3DS.

Hi, I have a problem. I followed the guide up to step IV. When doing the first step of V, booting up without any button pressed, it takes me to the original home menu without setting up rxtools or anything. I check the version and it begins with ver. Am I in emunand? How do I make rxtools set up?

Have you used the Custom boot.3dsx file? Its in the Download Center next to the Starter.zip link. Download and replace whatever boot3dsx file you have and it should boot into it. If not, Hold L while you power on and go into rxTools from the HBL.

I did what you asked. I saw a flash from the rxtool setup screen then the flashing red/black screen. Holding L while powering up leads me to the same screen. Before doing the change, it took me to HBL. Thx for the quick reply by the way! you rock!

EDIT: Before your reply, i had already used HBL to launch the setup of rxtools. dunno if that matters.

EDIT 2: I could access rxtool advanced options by holding L+R during boot. Should I continue with the steps?

Hello again, I encounter a multitude of problems. I could reach HBL by holding L during boot, but when I tried to proceed with the instructions and boot rxtools while holding L, it flashes red twice then comes back to the HBL menu. Same thing when I only press A to start rxtools in the HBL menu. It loops me back to HBL menu.

So, I'm following this guide, after finally getting downgraded, and I'm a little confused on the III-A and III-B steps.

I've made a backup of the files on my SD card, but EmuNAND9 is still on the SD card (just copied, after all). Am I supposed to be removing anything from the SD card between III-A and III-B?

Edit: I've figured it out. The emunand process formats the SD card, so that's why the backup.

However, I'm now to the point where it says hold R and press X to boot into emunand, but in the rxTools you've linked, it's looking like it's R+Y. Is this an error in the guide?

Edit 2: Yeah, your guide gets REALLY confusing in the later 'chapters'. Less detail and some steps that results in logical inconsistencies, like changing theme in V-9 (removes menuhax) and proceeding to VI-1, in which sysnand is the only viable boot target (no need to hold R). Makes it hard for someone who's actually reading the instructions and following along as written.

Man, I was on a roll installing this thing. Good guide!
When I loaded the FBI launcher in Chapter V through the Health & Safety App, it worked fine, but when I exited, the top screen remained the same and slowly started to look corrupted. Now, the top screen fails to load anything when on the Home Menu (it is completely black), but the touchscreen works just fine. Interestingly, the top screen loads correctly in rxTools / Homebrew Channel. Also, I'm still getting the black / red bottom screen even though it should be fixed in step 8?

Anyway, I got this taken care of, but I'm trying to change my home menu on emunand to black (from blue when I changed to remove menuhax and unlink nands). However, any time I reload emunand, it's back to blue. What do I do to make sure the change sticks?

Whatever way works to get you into it should be fine but I wouldnt do that as sometimes it could open SysNAND instead of EmuNAND. Hold L and open HBL and Hold L while you open rxTools from HBL its safer.

Hold L and open rxTools from HBL and it should bring you to a Menu thing, Click A to open rxMode options and Hold R while you boot EmuNAND by pressing Y i believe. It should now boot EmuNAND, Go into Theme Options while still on EmuNAND and change the theme to anything. Power Off and Back on and it should stop the Red/Black screen.

Yes the R+X is a Mistake. And no you are needed to change the Theme it removes MenuHax from the EmuNAND not SysNAND. Yes you need to Hold R while you press Y or it will do a boot loop (Red/Black Screen) because menuhax is setup so its constantly trying to open Boot.3dsx which is setup to Open rxTools if you dont press anything and it seems if you Hold R (WHich is meant to Open SysNAND) it loads EmuNAND fine allowing you to change the theme and fix the Red/Black screen so you can boot up just by powering on.

You haven't unlinked your EmuNAND properly (I believe) as that only happens when your NANDS are linked. Unlink your EmuNAND properly and then change the theme and you should be fine.

Go into HBL by Holding L while power on, Hold L and open rxTools, Click A to open rxMode, Hold R+Y and it should boot you into EmuNAND, Go into Theme Options and change the Theme to anything else for now. It will remove MenuHax from EmuNAND and stop boot looping boot.3dsx.
